I am sure a lot of you have already seen this, but pretty rad little post about some smaller options in LA. Anyone tried any of the 6? I've tried Angel City, but not the others. I need to know my roots and remember the smaller houses. Anyways, read and enjoy. http://blogs.laweekly.com/squidink/2013/01/los_angeles_breweries.php
I have had beer from Angel City, Ohana, and Smog City. I have heard of San Pedro, but never tried their stuff. Never heard of the other 2.
That kickstarter for "la river brewing" located in Culbertson city has to be the most laughable kickstarter around.
what the author said about San Pedro Brewing Company was spot on. I grew up in Pedro and always brushed the brew co off as a place where the bros go and drink shitty beer. Then I went there and had a flight of their beers and was blown away by how good they were. I was also glad to see Smog City at number 1. Their saison is fantastic, and I'm stoked they're opening in Torrance. Them, Monkish and Strand will make for a nice (drunken) day
I've met (and drank) with the LA Aleworks guys on many occasions. Really solid beers and they love using rye in styles that you wouldn't actually think would work well rye. Glad to see them getting some exposure.
i really want to try some Ohana brews. been hearing good things. bummed i missed the event at Tony's last night but hopefully they still have a bunch on re: LA River Brewing.. i think the LA River is cool, and breweries are cool. i don't know if it was the best name. not sure i want to think about the LA River when i'm drinking a beer
