I had a Coolship Red by Allagash at a bottle share last week and can't get it out of my head. It was fantastic. I don't know a whole lot about the number of bottles produced or what people had to do to get this. Any idea what level of beer it would take to trade for a bottle of this? If anybody has traded some or traded for some recently, I'd love some examples. I can infer from there what it would take from my cellar to get it done. Thanks.

The only single bottle on your CellarHQ list that would get it done is the Port Dark Lord.

It's a small batch brewery only release. I'm not sure on precise Coolship Red bottle count, but I think it has had 3 bottlings, with 500 or so bottles per release.

Is the Red that much harder to get than the Cerise? I snagged a Cerise and Cantillon Classic 375 for a KBS, 4 pk of Daisy Cutter, and a few bottles of Pipeworks.

I recently traded a Sebago Single Batch Barleywine for one, which I used as part of a trade along with an Elaborative 1 to get a Chocolate rain and Civil Disobedience 6.

Relatively limited, 2 per person, brewery only release. A port BA Dark Lord would be overkill... I would think equally limited/in demand stuff would get it done.

I don't think it's that much harder to get than the Cerise, but you worked out a really, really good deal for the Cerise. If your trade partner was local to Allagash, maybe trade with the same person again?

I agree. I've also been able to track down the Coolship beers without giving up super rare stuff in the past.

Cerise was a 4-bottle limit and lingered a few weeks, while Red was a 2-bottle limit and released on the weekend of The Festival so sold quickly. So, yes, Red is probably a bit harder to obtain than Cerise currently.

    Cerise was a 2-bottle limit.

This is correct and some was still available this past weekend.

I traded a '12 Iris for coolship red and crooked stave peach bourbon barrel reserva. Hope that helps.

Red didn't sell out during the weekend of the Festival (not sure if that's what's being implied). As OP knows, Red is absolutely amazing, and I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing more people actually hold onto these and drink them (a la Armand'4s).

I agree it is overkill, but that speaks more to BADL variants insane trade value than Coolships lack of one. I was also just going off what he had on his list.

That's a very generous trade. I hope you hooked your partner up with some killer extras. But as this shows, anything can happen.

Forgot I had my sister with me as a mule, because I bought 4 haha. Also, Resurgam was a 4 limit the last time it was on right? Think I got them all confused.

Implied it sold more quickly than Cerise the last 2 times it's been available.

Red and Cerise were two bottle limits. Resurgam was four.

The only Red I have traded was for CL Barrel Select Gold back in November. Coolships can land you some of your biggest wants via trade from my experiences, but I have seen and heard of them being traded for a lot less. I remember seeing some guy from Maine trading two bottles of Cerise and wanting only Alpine IPAs in return a couple months back.

And he probably got better beers in return than most...

Gonna bump this instead of making a new thread. I've been thinking of going for a few of the Allagash sours, mainly FV13, Red, Cerise, Resurgam, Gargamel and Goulschip. I know Gargamel is tough to land but I think I can offer some good stuff for it (BADL or something). Bottle counts, prices, etc anyone? Thanks!

FV13 hit the stores in a handful of states, MA included from the $15-20 range a couple months back. At the brewery I think they were $12. All Coolships at the brewery are $15. I have never heard an official bottle count about the most recent releases of Cerise, Red, or Resurgam from Allagash. I would put a rough estimate of 500-1000 for Red and Cerise, and 1-2k for Resurgam. I can't speak for Ghoulship or Gargamel unfortunately.

Ghoulschip was one of the best beers I've ever had and I wish you best of luck finding one. Good luck landing Gargamel though. I think the handful of people that have one would be hard pressed to get rid of it.
