Remaining regional and limited, but positive news nonetheless - Coors Is Sharing Stories — and its Secret Pilsner, Barmen — for the Holidays
Excited to see how this translates to a can. I'd always grab one when I found myself at Yard House downtown.
Barmen is absolutely something special. Up there with Bierstadt, even. If I see these, they're as good as mine.
From one of the reviews, "it does take a full seven minutes to pour, so we usually order something for the wait!" Can some evil genius explain, please? Remembering my homebrew days, couldn't they just serve it in a dishpan?
It's this thing: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/is-slow-pour-a-thing-in-germany.619611/ Barmen was the first beer I've ever seen where that was a prerequisite and I've spent quite a bit of time in Germany. I guess it IS a thing there, but it's not that widespread. The long pour is part of the whole spectacle. I don't know if it truly adds anything, but I do feel that the beers poured that way have a softer texture that's closer to Czech beers.
Anyone seen those mixed packs around yet? I've looked at a couple of places but only saw Winterfest...which I bought because it's also awesome.
Curious what others think of this. I don't think the Barmen in this pack is the same as the draft one. It's good, but it's not the same beer. Hops are dialed back and there is more sweetness.
