"Molson Coors Brewing Co said on Tuesday it will launch Coors Light Iced Tea and other new products, as the beer company fights to win a greater share of the struggling beer market."

"Coors Light Iced Tea will go on sale first in Canada, where consumers are interested in flavored beers and other refreshing drinks, Molson executives said. They did not, however, rule out an expansion into the United States."

So rather than IPAs they see iced Tea beer as the way to steal back share?

are we this much closer to a Sprite IPA?

'Other new products include Carling Zest, a limited-time-only beer with citrus flavors and an autumn-inspired Leinenkugels beer.'

Uh oh.... they picked up that limited = hype. Doubt they'll gain much traction with that approach.

    Struggling beer market?

I'm guessing they are referring to the big boys losing sales to customers that discovered craft beer actually tastes much better?

Only if they are in 500ml cans and it has to be 9%+ abv. Anything less will be a fail.

That would be the even more limited barrel aged grand cru version.

Just read this on the wsj's website. I'm just interested in figuring out how they came up with Canada as a test market for Iced tea.

Man, Coors sucks. You'd never catch any respectable brewer putting out a product as crappy as alcoholic iced tea. That would be twisted.

Probably because Iced tea is very popular in canada (well quebec anyways) its not like going in some states and Asking for an iced tea and all they brimg us is a cold tea. Thats just nasty :grinning: its more of a lemon sweet beverage. (example, lipton brisk iced tea or nestle iced tea.

I guess they are trying to steal sales from miller chill lime, miller chill lemon, bud light lime , labatt blue lime, canadian sublime or anything else with lime or piss in it.

Really? Some people might think it's HardCore for a craft brewer to also market malternatives and other alcoholic beverages, others might just get Angry...
