I'm going to be in Copenhagen in a few weeks and was hoping for some recommendations while I'm there. I was quite into the RateBeer scene years ago, but have fallen behind the times since my kids were born. Any suggestions as to some must have beers while I'm there and any kid friendly places to drink them at? I'll be staying near Tivoli. Also, I really want to find some Westvleteren while I'm there. I'm reading that Kihoskh might be a good place to find it. That sound right? Any other options? Thanks in advance.
@Sigmund is from Norway, however seems to have quite good knowledge about many Northern European countries. Tagging him assuming he could help you here.
It's been a while since my last visit to Copenhagen, but there are many good beer bars in the city. There is Mikkeller & Friends (Stefansgade) and Mikkeller Bar (Viktoriagade). I can also recommend Fermentoren at Halmtorvet. Peders - Pisserendens Ølkælder is a classic. Amager Bryghus Taproom at Nørreport is a great place to sample beers from that brewery - Denmark's best. There are many, many more good bars. For picking up Westvleteren and other good Belgian beer, Kihosk is a good place as you suggest - another good shop is Belgisk Bryg in Emdrup Mosevej 12. There are also many beer bars and bottle shops that would not reach the top of a Danish beer enthusiast's list, but might still have a few decent Danish beers that may be of interest to a foreigner.
@ToadMan did you make the trip to Copenhagen last summer, if so, how was your trip? Can you report on the city & beer scene? I'm working on squeezing Copenhagen into a Europe trip in December, (NYE in the city). Thanks/cheers
