I am doing some business in the south of Norway and I have decided to make a road trip to Copenhagen for the weekend. I mainly want to check out War Pigs, esp since I will be at Dark Lord Day next weekend. My main question is: What is the availability of Cantillon in Copenhagen. Is it like the states where it shows up and disappears quickly or is it on shelves? I would like to pick up a few bottles and if anyone can help me with where that will be that would be awesome. I don't want to waste too much time I could have sipping at War Pigs or the other great bars there searching for something that is out of reach. Cheers and thanks for the help in advance guys.
You can almost always find Kriek, Gueuze, and Rose de Gambrinus on the shelves. Check out Ølbutikken, it'd only be about a 5 minute walk from War Pigs and they'll definitely have some stock. Shipments of the non-regular lineup do show up occasionally at the bottle shops but they sell out quick. I haven't been, but if WP is anything like the other Mikkeller bars, they'll also have a bottle list with at least a handful of the more sought after variants to drink-in, likely some older vintages as well. If they don't, just walk down the street to the Mikkeller bar on Viktoriagade, they'll have a whole bunch of them there. Fair warning though, it's pricey.
You cannot always find Cantillons on the shelves as they tend to fly of the shelves, even at the prices they are sold for. But there is a lot of Danes or Swedes that lives close to Copenhagen that has a lot of Cantillons to trade. Since you are doing a roadtrip I think you should check out my FT list and send me a PM if you want to make a trade.
Just left Copenhagen. Pretty much all stores are out of 750. You can find a few 375 at kiosk and mikkeller and friends.
