Just went to pick n save and saw that they had a huge display case of this. Introductory rate of $6.99 for a 6 pack of bottles. I guess it is only available at Copps stores and is made by Point Brewery. Anyone try this yet?
I did and it is quite good. Point makes some decent beers and this one is up there! I'm happy to have a local Irish Dry Stout to drink!
I just saw this in my latest Pic'n Sav flyer, $6.50 a sixer. My reaction was to look it up on BA. No reviews yet. I'll probably wait for some, rather than suffer buyers remorse (..shoulda paid the extra buck for some Lakefront..) I like Point's St Benedict's Winter, but everything else is strictly average, although I'll take a Point Special over most any other macro. Haven't tried any of the "Whole Hog" offerings. Let us know how it is.
I have only tried the Irish Stout and I can tell you it is much better than any Minhas product. I won't bother with the other styles from B&B because I know there are much better offerings of those from other local brewers.
i was intrrigued by seeing this in the store, didn't pick up any yet because i have quite a bit in the fridge; anyways, i was going to get some depending on if i heard anything. i know that Point brews for other small breweries, but i am not sure about the association between Point and B&B. if i do try some others i'll let you know; i grew up in Point so have some hometown love for all of the Point brews
If you have the option for a 6 pack mixer you can just grab 1 or 2 to try. Copps around Madison has mixers for $7.99 which is a great deal compared to anywhere else.
I believe that this is contract brewed for Roundys Corp. That is the only fathomable reason why there are 2 shelves of a premium $$ endcap dedicated to this beer. I have also seen all packages cut into open air coolers at Roundys Stores. Another reason this is their "brand". When you have the same amount of 6 pack facings as New Glarus in a cooler somethings up. 7up bottling produces a portion of the Roundys Private Label Soda.
The IPA is fantastic, give it a try. I usually enjoy Lakefront, Founders and the like and this is right up there.
I find their IPA to be right up there with Goose Island and it's a little less expensive. Those are the only two brews I drink now until I can make a trip up to Sprecher. B&B's IPA is really good even though once in a while I get one that is a little flat. I have read some reviews stating that it isn't too hoppy. I disagree. I think it's very hoppy.___ To me, B&B's Pilsner is just okay and I found their Stout to be, not so stout, a little thin. __
I thought that the Irish Style Dry Stout was decent for the price, and would certainly drink another bottle if it was all I had. The B&B Enchanted Winter Ale, however, made my "worst 25" beers list. Tasted like a moldy dubbel.
It is strange that 4 different users would all only have one post, and it be related to theserelatively obscure & likely mediocre Bricks & Barley brewing contract beers. All with no location listed, no wants/gots, no reviews, no profile pictures? Weird. Probably me just trying to read into things, but if we see any more BA's sharing some Roundy's or Point/Minhas love then I'm calling BS!
