Stopped in at Corridor this evening and had the latest batch of Fade to Haze and found it a nice pre game for Nightmare on Haze Street. Excellent beers all around and I love the fried green tomato pimento toast. I really enjoy Corridor at the great staff. I can always count on a easy going night out when I head there.

    Cheers

Yeah, CBJ v2 was up there, it was much better than the original to me.

Also, does anyone else have problems pouring from crowlers? Every frickin time I pour one, liquid runs down the can, it doesn't all go in the glass. I have tried pouring slow, pouring fast and being extra careful, but am convinced it is impossible to pour the first glass from a full crowler without leakage. Is there a flaw with crowlers? I am going to make a bartender open and pour one of these to see if they have a trick if you guys tell me this doesn't happen to you...

About 80% of the time. It's gotten to the point that I pour over the sink every time.

This happens to me every damn time. If you pour too fast to keep it from running down the can it foams up in the glass. If you pour too slow to keep it from foaming up too much in the glass it runs down the can. I even started taking a big gulp straight from the can when I first open it and it helps a little bit but I still pour over the sink as it still runs down the can.

I believe @dar482 addressed this in one of his videos and IIRC the trick was to rotate the can such that you're pouring obliquely. I've only ever had two crowlers (CJB and Ryders) and I don't recall whether I had spillage issues.

Thanks all for the crowler insights.

I've tried, blows the can into little pieces....

The best success I've had is with my 16oz St PaulI girl glass. I usually have to hold the glass at about 45-50 degrees and begin with a fast poor and then slowly ease up on the poor while rotating the glass up right. Took a while to get it down and it usually end up with a bottle 1 in head of foam which usually dissipates pretty quickly and I can top it off in about a minute or two.

Could always start using Oktoberfest steins I guess.

I've had good success pouring Corridor crowlers into my glasses as long as I tip the glass sideways (~45 degrees or so?), but yeah, I can see the issues.

Also, the Squeezit cans are super full, so much so that I get a little beer on me everytime I open one. Can't say I'm not getting my money's worth!

I like to think it’s just a little for my homies that couldn’t be with us to taste that delicious juice.

I know what you mean about getting splashed everytime you open a crowler. I just put a paper towel over the can when I open.

As you said " we are definitely getting our money's worth " with cans that full.

I put my thumb on the side of the can directly below the mouth and push my thumb in hard enough that it dents the can. I’ve never had a Crowler leak when I do this.
You also have to be committed to the first pour. No ***** footin

Had dinner tonight at Corridor with some friends, always a good time.

Nightmare on Haze Street is one of their first hazy releases that hasn't done much for me. Not a bad beer, but too syrupy. I've never liked IIIPA's. The $7 growler fill of Wizard Flight can't be beat though, and the food was stellar as always.

I forgot to post this over the weekend, I also had a crowler of Nightmare on Friday, had a similar takeaway to others. It tasted a little like a Forbidden Root beer to me, since it was on the sweeter side. I really enjoyed it, but it was definitely sweeter than I'd typically want from my corridor beers.

With that being said, I actually appreciate the fact that they're doing these once in a while, because even if every single one isn't going to be a home run in my eyes (a la Squeezit OG), the variety is nice. I'll still grab a glass of Nightmare if it's on next week, too.

My feelings on Nightmare were pretty similar ... fun that they went for it, but the sweetness and ultimately the high price make me prefer Squeezit, CJB, reg Bendy Straw, etc. That said, i drank a crowler on Saturday and it went down pretty easily so this is probably nitpicking.

I would be curious as to how many people prefer Nightmare to their other offerings. Squeezit, though big, was balanced and drinkable. Nightmare was like something I'd put on waffles. Good beer if you like that big ABV sugar bomb. Great flavor, but way too sweet for me to ever purchase again.

I've always maintained that the thing about NE IPAs that gets me has nothing to do with mouthfeel; it's the amount of hops they've crammed in the damn beer. I've always loved crazy flavors, and I typically am one of the few people that won't ever complain that a beer is too sweet (even Dark Lord is something I've drank bombers of by myself, in one sitting). In this case, I liked it a lot, I just already know that with a little more attentuation (less sweet), I'd love the beer even more (same for Dark Lord, actually). The concentration of hop goodness in Nightmare is awesome, though, and I hope this isn't the last we see of its kind at Corridor.

How did you even taste the hops? It was all sweet malts. There was no discernible hop profile in that beer at all to me.

Power Trip was the hoppiest beer either of these two guys have put out.
