I've also decided I want a mountain view outside my window.

I got them from the wife a couple of years past and I enjoyed it. Wrote reviews on the contents of the last calendar I got ?? years ago. Wife quit going to COSTCO.

FYI this page is updated for 2018 and they rolled into Costco a few weeks ago. I snapped a picture of the box and it killed my phone (battery issue). Still trying to determine if this is going to end up in my cart before Dec 1st. I think they were rocking along at $57. Which kinda makes me go well that isn't bad, but on the other hand 6 people could get together and do a hell of a calendar for about $40 bucks. Each one gets 4 six packs and mixes them up.

I bought it last year and my wife and I found it fun but most beers were meh and not worth the cost. Only way I'd buy it now is if it included a roggenbier style as that is a style I never had and is very tough to find. So tough that when I ask my local liquor store owners about it they have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

Can't help you with Aldi, but there's a Costco down the road (as well as Trader Joe's) and all the mountain views a guy could want. Decent local beer too, ya know.

Roggenbier exists only in the mind of tickers.

Definitely saw that the other day for like $60.. way too much for me even factoring in novelty... sounds like I made the right choice.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of these offerings... Czech Pilsner, IPA, Session IPA, and a pale ale.

The session was delightful imo as was the Czech Pilsner... the other two were okay, so overall for the price ($22/24 pack) I was happy with my purchase and will certainly get more. Would have gotten it last time but they had Sierra Nevada Octoberfest for $25 a case and couldn’t pass it up.

    That's a big turnoff.
Freshness is important, especially for German beers.

If anyone could pull off a great and reasonably fresh beer advent calendar I think it would be Sierra Nevada. They could collaborate with others and make something like the Beers Across of the World mix case and fill-in with some of Sierra Nevada's "standard" beers, like Tumbler, Stout, SNPA, Nooner, etc., and Celebration for the 25th, of course. @SierraTerence, you're welcome.

That's a good idea too and sounds better than the Costco version.

Exactly my thoughts. I'd rather spend my money on 7 new-to-me beers from various German breweries in various styles and have a week count down vs. this box.

It's still one of my favorite gifts I've gotten, but the value isn't there for me to purchase it. Personally.

Interesting concept if it were filled with 24 beers from varying German breweries. As is, it sounds like a pass. And I wouldn't even want to receive it as a gift. For $60 you can get a bottle of Redbreast whiskey or something.

Redbreast Whiskey what the hell is that? If I'm going to splurge $60 on a bottle of whisky to be right on the nose @ $60 I'd go for Elijah Craig small batch 12yr barrel proof.

Perrin has a bomber called damsel in distress that I believe is considered a roggenbier. It's also high abv, so idk about the legitimacy of the style. They released it last year, but I doubt it would be hard to find...

I'll look for it but since it's a German style I sort've wanna try it from a German brewer, Paulaner I know has one but I never found it.

Its not what you'd expect from most Irish whiskey (read: its actually good). :stuck_out_tongue:
