Day one for me was the moon under water chicken peanut pilsner. Yes, the dog beer. It was special. I didn't take pictures but Lurkaholic did.

Day two for me brings this:

I'm not sure what I did to get on lurkaholic's bad side, but I am suffering. Still, a marked improvement from day one.

Yeah. That chicken peanut pilsner was really quite unpleasant, I felt somewhat ill for about an hour... but on the upside, my beard is feeling much more glossy today.

Serendipity brought this one to me back in late June, so it was a perfect brew to enjoy on Canada Day at the time. Hope this is a new batch of the same beer, so I can enjoy it again, almost 5 months later to the day.

My lager intake is almost exclusively P49. Graham really likes them for some reason.

The "official" advent calender is all porter, all the time so far!

How are you guys enjoying the non-phillips beers?

Day 3 for me was an almanac biere de chocolat porter... it's really, really good.

Day 3 for me brings Noel de Silenrieux. Two year old bottle off the shelf that has Italian printing on it. Interesting. Tons of grape flavour, slight oxidation, some alcohol warming. Quite a drinkable dark strong.

    Nice day 3's!

To fill out the empty spots in my list I added Sculpin IPA, Hermannator 2013, and Hermannator 2012. I ended up filling my allotment coming back from Bellingham with bombers and bcbs so only grabbed the Sculpin.

Rob returns the shelf 2011 beer favour with a De Molen "Heaven and Earth" imperial stout, made with copious amounts of bruichladdich malt - super smokey but not in that meaty way you often get with rauchbiers. Thumbs up!

This is a really excellent German Pilsner. Very fresh hop aroma and flavour compared to german imports. Just saw some at the BCL at Cambie & 8th and may have to buy more.

I've had this once before and really really enjoyed it. I remember richer malt than in this bottle, might be a bit old now. Still very delicious.

Guess who forgot to take a photo? This guy. Polishing off an Aventinus Weizen Bock right now, courtesy of the calendar. Had the Eisbock in the past, but never this one - very solid beer.

At the end of it all I kind of want to calculate the mean rating of all the beers in the calendar.
