said this last year, which is why me (and many others in Van) didn't buy this time around. For the price you'd think they could get some top notch beers.

Maybe we can do a CANBIF Christmas Calendar edition next year?

Day 5 for Phillips was the Zeus IPA ( great beer , love that hops by itself) Day 6 was a Hammer in a 12oz . So far the Phillips is seeming a better bet than the Craft Beer Advent.

This is a link to the phillips blog on the snowcase and the tasting notes from people on each beer. Not too earthshattering for BAs but cool if a newbie got a calendar and wants to understand more about the beers ( Phillips does run quite a range 24 beers)

Yesterday I somewhat drunkenly enjoyed a Victory Storm King Stout - probably the hoppiest stout I've had, very tasty stuff.

Right now I'm finishing off a Rejewvenator from Hebrew. Fruity, approachable dubbel / doppelbock blend? Surprisingly refreshing and easy to drink for 8%.

Yeah I was stoked to open the calender to a Stillwater bottle, and it was as delicious as I hoped.

Missed a few pictures. Friday was Bruery Sour in the Rye. Saturday was Cucapa Green Card barleywine. Sunday was Tin Whistle Stag. Sour in the Rye was quite nice, drank it at UBC before a department party there. Green card was a nice mellow barleywine, nothing offensive but nothing amazing. Tin Whistle Stag was a terrible time, sweet candy apples. Today's barleywine is one I drank fresh and didn't think much of. Aging has really smoothed out the caramel malt so it works better with the strong barrel flavour. Tastes like sweetened whiskey.

I can't think of a single time I haven't preferred a barleywine after 12 months rather than fresh. Unlike any other style, it's just a sure bet for me. Oddly I have one of those GIB units in the fridge still too.

Today was the first IPA for us "official" adventers, a 7% ABV California example that clearly states "please keep refrigerated" and "store under 40F" on the bottle... sorry, Tap It. That didn't happen. As a result, I got a not-surprisingly-malty beer with the hops mostly showing up in the second half of the game. Really can't judge the beer fairly as a result but I still enjoyed it just the same!

Day 8 for the Snowcase was The Analogue Kolsch , Day 9 was the Ginger beer and Day 10 was the Phoenix. Going to hold back these lighter beers to have with some of the bigger ones coming up. Regular calendar was the Tap it IPA and day 10 was Back Forty Truck Stop Honey Brown

Day 11 for Phillips was Dr Funk. Craft beer was Newport Storm IPA. Also Phillips released Amnesiac in tall cans which is pretty cool

Today's beer is a belgian dark strong by Bruton. Quite nice, peppery yeast and some dark fruit character. Yesterday was Renaissance Scotch that was unfortunately infected, really carbed with metallic/smokey aroma and flavour. Tuesday was Mount Begbie Darkside of the Spoke Coffee stout which was nice, although it seemed like hot steeped.

The 13th is Trainwreck for Phillips ( awesome) and the regular craft calendar is Peak Organics Expresso Beer from Portland Maine.

Oh hai thread. I'm a bit behind here so here are all the beers rob's given me over the last week - plus my super detailed tasting notes that I just wrote right now.

    8) Brouwerij West 12 Mør Mør (kickass label, somewhat lacking belgian)
    9) Waterloo Double 8 Dark (shitty label, but holy crap, delicious dubbel!)
    10) Pilsner Urquel (better than I remember)
    11) Stillwater Artisinal Cellar Door (not bad, not bad)
    12) Smirnoff Ice (a 500ml can that I swore would be another awesome german lager as I unwrapped it... well played, I hate you)
    13) Deschutes / Hotd Collage #1 (I would drink a six pack of smirnoff ice for another of these, all is forgiven)

One box down, one to go...
