Just throwing out an idea to get some feedback about a concept, a comic book store with a very loungey like atmosphere, and a bar. Lots of good beer with good food, comic books and nerds everywhere from all walks of life. The only other place i know thats like it is the geek easy attached to A Comic Shop in florida? Anyone ever go there, have any likes or dislikes?
I would think some of the comics would tend to get damaged, creased, dog-eared, food or beer stains, causing them to be unsellable. If I owned a comic store, I wouldn't do it.
I'm a fan of both comics and beer, but really never combine both of them, even when I'm at home. Occasionally I'll read my monthly issues while enjoying a beer, but I'm usually too worried about damaging the comics in some way while drinking. That and I also normally want to be totally immersed in either the comics or the beer, and if I'm trying to enjoy both at the same time, I feel like I'm missing part of the experience for one or the other.
Cool concept to a point I love craft beer and comics but u need something more to draw ppl in to. I have lots of comics but I said I would by online but dammit I did and love it. The comic book store will be no more in 10 to 15 yrs.
I think it could be a good idea. Being a fan of both, I often enjoy them together. Maybe have a section of trades and floppies that are for in house reading at tables and such. If some get wrecked beyond being able to read that is the price of doing business.
The age of readers would be an impediment loosing out on a lot of revenue from younger folks.....plus too great a chance of having a liquor license yanked from some kid sneaking a sip.....I'd like it at one time, but the potential is just a tad high for young kids getting ahold of good brew.
That is a great question my son is a huge comic kid at 8yrs old but I won't let him read to many bc of how bad they can be. He does read a lot of flash.
Boom. Comic-book artist/author does in-store at record store ..... co-presented by 2 beer releases ... at the same dang record store event: http://www.wbng.com/news/local/Comic-writer--288169811.html "Local artists gathered at Sound Go Round Saturday to start off the new year with a special guest. Well-known comic book writer James Tynion IV visited the store for a meet and greet with excited fans." "The North Brewery from Endicott also made an appearance at the store, with fresh brewed beer tastings. Two limited brews were made for the event, the Joking IPA and a Dark Knight Stout."
