Craft Beer at Mohegan Sun

My general experience at the CT Casinos is that you really need to grab a drink at the bar of one of the higher end restaurants, if you want any craft beer.

 

Harpoon gets comped while gambling. I typically get a pizza at Pepe's and a pitcher of whatever Sam Adams at some point during the night.

Long story short: there ain't much there.

 

Was there last month, actually had a decent selection of craft stuff at Michael Jordan's Cafe (not the steak house) Heres a menu, but Im pretty sure they have 10-12 on draft when I was there of a little better quality

Also, hash house a go go has a pretty good selection as well. Nothing special, but enough to stop and have a drink.

I seem to remember that Bobby Flay's Bar Americain had a decent tap list.

 

Star Bar in the Casino of the Wind has a few options. Comped when playing at the bar as well!

 

Was there the day before NYE. There was a sign in the window of Michael Jordan'sSports Cafe advertising a Stone Tap Takeover coming soon. Found that odd so wandered in. They had Arrogant Bastard on draft and a few other ok selections.

Virgil's (used to be Big Bubba's BBQ) also had Brooklyn Lager and some other ok offerings.

I wanna say Bobby's Burger bar had a couple ok offerings (for the casino).

 

They should. They host a pretty good beer fest.

 

$9 for a 22oz Arragant Bastard is cheap imo for a bar/restaurant. I guess I'll have to hit Hash House A Go Go next time I am down there.

 

That IS pretty lame. Security actually does watch too, my buddies bro is in the room with the camera feeds.

 

You can get comped GI IPA as well. They had it at all the casino bars.

 

Mohegan has an event January 24th features a Long Trail Beer and Food Pairing. I went to the media preview 2 weeks ago and it was amazing. The Sun Wine Fest itself is huge, I skipped the wine and went upstairs to the beer fest. (I've never heard of a beer fest that had an additional 6 rooms with wine sampling before...) It's interesting that a wine fest would have about 30 brewers...makes me think that they are providing something for both the wine and beer crowd. The big fest is Saturday (Sold out) and Sunday.

 

Landsdowne has founders, lagunitas, sierra nevada etc. Had some real fresh centennial ipa Saturday.

 

I know that it's not what you're looking for, but I just thought I'd mention that I went to the Sun Brewfest that past two years. It was a pretty fun time, lots of solid breweries represented, although the lines ended up getting quite long.

 

I'll be there this upcoming Friday. In what part of the Hotel I can find some Sea Hag or a solid list as of March 2015?
