One of the big challenges I've run into is the fact that there are restaurants/bars that I no longer want to go to, for the simple fact that they don't have what I now consider to be good beer. Great food, sure, but if they don't have great beer, I just don't want to go!

Like most are saying, price, but as the rule applies to everything "you get what you pay for". Spend a little more and get a lot more: flavor quality and usually ABV

Not being 21 years old was a pretty big challenge.

$$$, reading and soaking up information is just natural and comes with the interest, making small lifestyle changes to make room for it, totally different but it can ( and was ) done, lol.

I wasn't a BA member back when I started, so I was not educated on the various styles and what they would taste like. I picked singles off the shelf for many reasons such as a catchy name, the graphics on the label, etc. and ended up buying sours, wilds, and lambics early in my endeavors to try many things. I can recall that first wild that tasted like a barnyard and thinking the beer must be spoiled. I appreciate that kind of learning process, but I wish I had known about BA back then.

Being able to get my palate to appreciate things from massive hop bombs, to more delicate type beers like pilsners.
