Thanks for posting this. Considering the amount of really interesting beer now found Italy its shocking how little coverage its received.

The coverage of Italy is for entirely different reasons. See: Greece, Spain.

They say alcohol is recession proof, guess we'll find out.

The price of Italian beer exploded long ago. Get the price down to Belgian levels and we'll talk. Until then, there are too many world-class beers at lower prices to bother, imho.

Ok ok...I'll grant that there are a few exceptions (I'll pay for Duchessic, for instance), but by and large, the prices need to come down.

Duchessic really is that good. I wish I had another bottle or 12 of it.

The problem with the Italian beers imported here is that they never seem fresh (the ipas at least, others are fine) and are grossly overpriced. But I'm sure living in Italy it would have to be pretty awesome.

In the article it mentioned that with taxes and regulations it forces beer to be expensive kinda like in japan it's their countries government laws that drive up the price.

Craft beer is exploding everywhere that over carbed bottles exist.

Just started getting their stuff down here. Not overwhelming but like their IPA's over Struise. Good price point for Australia

    Hi,

    I agree.

Mario Battali's Eately in NYC has a small selection of Italian beers and for the most part they are astronomically priced.

La Rossa, which I think is excellent, can be found at competitive prices in NYC...same for the Mana Brea (sp?) beers, which are also good.

The other thing I don't like about many Italian beers is they try to be too complex, and in the process end up being non-descript...a problem I think plagues many American microbrews.

    Good Luck, the KP.
