Tom, I will be heading over to Sly Fox (Phoenixville) later this evening and they have Oktoberfest on tap. It is my 'rule of thumb' to not drink Oktoberfest beers until September. I am pretty sure that once I get there and physically see it on tap that 'rule' will likely turn into a 'guideline'!?!:flushed:

    Cheers!

P.S. They also have their Keller Pils (unfiltered Pikeland Pils) on tap - I will most definitely be drinking that!! I am thinking a 20 ounce Willie Becher is in order here!! @TongoRad

There was a guy named Everett Dirksen who was Senior Senator from Illinois for several years who once said, "I am a man of fixed and unbending principles, the first of which is to be flexible at all times."

I generally ‘fall back’ on what the wise man of Dr. Peter Venkman had to say in the movie Ghostbusters:

    “[Dana is possessed]

Dr. Peter Venkman: I make it a rule never to get involved with possessed people.

[Dana starts passionately making out with him, moaning audibly]

Dr. Peter Venkman: Actually, it's more of a guideline than a rule...”

    Cheers!

I’ll have to admit I was struggling eith the thread title as well. I don’t think I was combing two different ideas at all. I was just providing a few examples to support my idea.

Thanks in part to themarketing campaigns of big beer when most Americans think of beer they think of Bud Light, Michelob, Miller Lite, Coors and probably a few others. For the most part these beers cost about the same and one will get (personal preferences aside) about the same level of satisfaction (or dissatisfaction) when drinking.

Craft beer provides a broad spectrum of flavors. I was just providing two examples where that is true within the same style.
