Well, the reporter's bio does say he "... covers personal finance, consumer issues, and assorted nonsense for Money.com..." but in his defense, that TIME article is dated Oct. 16, 2015 and the proposed transaction to sell SABMIller's portion of the US MillerCoors joint venture to Molson Coors would not be announced for nearly another month (although such a deal to avoid anti-trust actions by the US DoJ was fully expected by any knowledgeable US brewing industry observer):

November 11, 2015: Molson Coors to Acquire Full Ownership of MillerCoors Joint Venture
and Global Miller Brand Portfolio for $12 Billion ​

 

Which lends itself quite nicely to the conclusion that the author of the article was not a knowledgeable US brewing industry observer.

 

It should be noted that "Trappist" in an "appellation of origin" and has nothing to do with the quality of the product.
