Have a family member out there again. Last time I got some Maui Brewing. CoCo Porter and Belgian Stout. Both good. What else is on shelves in Honolulu area? I liked Maui amd would welcome more. Any reccomendations? Cans are preferd just easier to travel with. Looking for non east coast stuff
Not many cans available here. Lahaina Town Brown by Maui is still around sitting on shelves. If they are willing to bring back bottles Deschutes Mirror Mirror just hit yesterday, and Fiftyfifty Eclipse are still on shelves. I cannot recall what treatments are available. Big island brewhaus white mountain porter is nice, there IPA is good just don't know how fresh it is right now.
I think Kona Castaway is coming in bottles shortly. We do get Kona here in MA. Looking forward to giving it a try.
Sounds like I will concentrate on some Maui cans. Is the IPA good? Can it be found fresh easily? Maybe some Deschutes as well. Ran a quick search on Honolulu shops. Fujioka's, Tamura's, Wine Shop, and Liquor Cabinet all seem like legit sports. Also maybe Whole Foods.
I would stick with Tamura's and whole foods, fujiokas does not keep there beer refrigerated therefore can not speak of freshness. Winestop has a small selection, may be tough for some to find. Liquor collection IMO is overpriced and I never shop there. Maui Big Swell IPA is good but will not knock your socks off, usually has a canning date on bottom of can make sure to have them check before buying.
I second Tamura's, especially since there are a few locations that had different stuff between them (at least when I was there last July).
My wife and I will be traveling to Oahu on April 5th - April 10th, anyone interested in trading? Minneapolis has some really good beers; Surly Furious, Indeed Midnight Ryder, Summit... We will be staying at Aulani near Kapolei. Cheers,
