Not over hyped, and actually quite cheap compared to other barrel aged beers of the same nature for the regular lineup. I paid about $7 a 12 oz bottle, most barrel aged equivalent run about $25 for 22-24 oz.

Way to take it out of context there. What's snobbery is " Oh THEY make it?! Won't buy it because of that despite how good it is, beer must BY DEFAULT suck now. "

Beer is a dog eat dog world. If John Q. Brewmaster at Insert Local Brewery Here can't make a good beer, fuck him. I'll buy something else. As I've already stated, my taste buds do all the talking on repeat buys. Regardless of who brews it and where.

EDIT : And yes, the majority of beers that I buy are from my own state. BUT, that won't stop me from buying a better version of Insert Beer Style Here if it comes from elsewhere.

I drink craft beer nearly every day. However I can sit in the ocean or on my back porch and drink a Bud Light without believing that I am ruining the world. Sometimes people on this site just need to get over themselves. Life is a strange, long, and sometimes tedious adventure. Try not to wrap yourself so tight that a large beer company becomes your largest enemy.

Dude that is total nonsense. Being a beer advocate means that you have to type on your Android or Apple device that you decry all big business and the taste or smell of a beer that is made by the smallest brewery possible is the total bees knees.

I've become increasingly skeptical about nationally hyped beers, especially after Kentucky Breakfast Stout (which is damn good, but come on). Last year was my first BCBS and it definitely delivered and then some, especially the coffee version. It's reasonably priced for what it is and well worth the effort.

As for AB-InBev? I'm sure BCBS is a drop in the bucket to them. There's been a lot of chatter in the PacNW board for a while because of Elysian and 10 barrel, and I think the general tone was "I'm probably done buying them on a regular basis, but good beer is good beer." I've got a bottle of Punkaccino right now that I'm eager to break into.

Goose Island ? If You ever had geese around your house or places you go to say like a park ? you would know this, they are full of shit and ruin everything. This is how i perceive, that brand.

I don't really hear anyone saying that. What I hear is people saying they disapprove of AB's business practices and choose not to support them despite them making a good beer in BCBS. Just like some people won't shop at Walmart because of their crappy treatment of workers or buy Nikes or whatever because of their use of child labor, as an example. That's not snobbery by the definition most people use, it's just being a principled consumer and voting for the business practices they want to see with their wallets. Personally, I buy BCBS all day long because I don't see craft beer shelf space as a pressing social issue, but I certainly don't fault people who care about that issue and choose to boycott.

It's easy to boycott something you don't like in the 1st place. it's much harder to boycott something you really enjoy.

Simple answer is that not all of us do it. I have never done it and never will.

Your first line you judge people who don't drink it and your last line you claim you don't judge people!

I'm against AB/InBev in general because of their bully mentality towards craft beer and I'm against them buying craft beer brands because of the investigation right now that because they distribute a ton of independently owned craft beer brands, they are making it harder for them to get on the shelves. I can see a future where all thats on the shelves of major stores is AB/Inbev macro and purchased craft products. Luckily I'm not a huge fan of Bourbon County so I have no problem swearing it off, but I'm still a beer advocate so when my brother can't find any, I buy 4 packs for him and let him pay me back.

Don't even bother to try it, you will be disappointed for sure. The coffee variant is especially bad. Make sure to spread that message to as many friends a possible.

BTW we host an annual December tasting at which we symbolically kill ABI by disposing of as many Goose Island stouts as possible. I would be happy to add GI stouts that any BA's still have on hand for the ceremony. Please BM me for address to which you can send the foul products.

The only brewery i will never buy from is Bells because they decided to sue a tiny brewery in Sylva NC over their name which is Innovation. Bells has a bumper sticker that say Bells innovation in brewing since 1985... Bell does not have a trade mark on the word innovation but thinks Bells might be confused with Innovation Brewing. I have met Larry a few times and he seemed cool but now i feel like he is a gready a-hole. He has millions and is attacking a tiny brewery over nonsence.

Don't care the size of the Brewer, just enjoy good beer.
Heck, Unibroue and Ommegang, two of my go to breweries are both owned by larger gloms.
However, if my La Fin du Monde starts tasting like a Sapporo lager, that would be a problem.

No, we skip the Goose Island core offerings because most of them are not very good. I am not going to buy mediocre beer all year just so my local shop can get an extra case of bourbon county.

You die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.

Keep supporting small breweries guys, because when they are successful, they can expand and grow... But not too successful or too big because then, well you know, might have to start hating on them too just out of principle.

Open up a dialogue on this? It's been discussed a quadrillion times. I don't hate brewers that sell out and if I like a beer, I drink it.
