Seems like a lot of people get angered that macros are still doing so well even as the craft market has boomed. They will ALWAYS do well because there are a LOT of people who will be quantitative drinkers. They just want to drink a lot to get buzzed and/or drunk. Plus macro advertisers now how to manipulate the masses. They can get consumers to drink a beer because mountains turn blue,or drink because of classic horses, or you can put a lemon/lime in the bottle.Or use sex and show some knock-out beauties. They are kind of like beer lemmings. Just follow everyone else. That's ok for them because that's what they have chosen to do. Look at it this way. Just be glad you are not them and enjoy you micro brews. With the micro boom it still is <10% of the market. And it may never cut much into the total beer market. But craft will always be there for you. It isn't going anywhere. We can be the VERY hoppy minority!

I'm really not sure what you're referring to here. If anything, the predominant attitude on this site seems to be "who cares who owns/makes the beer. If it tastes good, I'll drink it." I, for one, strongly disagree with this sentiment, but I wouldn't say I'm angered that macros are 'doing so well.' I'm more disheartened that the big guys are so predatory in nature.

I have no beef with Macros one bit. Had an Old Style last night and it was fantastic!

I bolded part of your post, because interestingly enough, from being on this site, it seems like craft beer very much has this problem as well.

    .......just saying

I'm not the OP but I'll say that the concern by many "crafties" (on this site and elsewhere) about the now infamous Bud Super Bowl ad is laughable to me. Why anyone would be offended or even slightly miffed about such nonsense is beyond me.

In the US, water is now the most consumed beverage, so it would make sense that BMC is doing so well. Americans identify it as fizzy, yellow, water.

Doesn't bother me...These ingredients are finite...like john kimmich said, the bubble will burst mainly because these hop varietals and the like are finite and consumers/ upstart breweries will suffer when demand exceeds the amount of ingredients they can provide...in short, I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a vested interest in craft staying a niche...I mean limited releases already sell out in 2 seconds for most breweries and craft only holds like 15 percent of the market, if that....imagine if it was 70 percent craft...

People only get defensive or angry at the idea of macro because we all seek reinforcement in what we believe or think. We want to think what we think is right.

    Boom...theres some psych101 for ya

Skimming through the first page of that thread, I don't see much anger. Seems to be a lot more of what I said in my previous post.

Yeah. It seems like people just like to be mad about something. Believe me, I think people realizing that the big guys are no good is a good thing, but I think it's absurd that this ad is what sparked it. When I saw the ad, my reactions were "I can't believe they used the term 'Macro,'" and then when it was over I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Wow. They must really be hurting, huh?" I really don't know what people are even mad at. That they're poking fun? Jesus. Even them acknowledging craft shows how afraid they are of it, and the stupid anti-hipster ad just shows how completely out of touch they are with the market.

I get pissed off at the macros, but I get your sentiment. I'm a part of this community that avoids BMC, which is an even smaller portion of beer drinkers in general. There's room for all of us in the spectrum.

My own anger doesn't serve much purpose, but I'm a minute sliver of the reason that there are so many choices to enjoy. Remember beer wastelands? I recall there being few craft options in entire towns.

The only thing that "angers" me about the predominance of macros is the fact that they are taking up limited shelf space that might otherwise be occupied by better beer.

Aside from that though, to each his/her own.

Adjunct lagers are just another style of beer. Don't like corn in your beer? Good for you, I don't like fruit in my beer. Whining about the fact that different types of beer exist is just crazy to me.

    Shut up and drink.

I could care less. Too damn many people here take offense to something because it doesn't cost $19.99 a 4-Pack
    They're called idiots
I don't care if it's Miller Lite, Import, or so called "craft"...beer is beer, drink it and enjoy it !!!

Why does everyone assume macro drinkers drink macro beer solely because they want to get buzzed/drunk? Newsflash for you: The vast majority of macro drinkers are not alcoholics. Lots of macro drinkers are plenty happy having one or two Buds with a meal and calling it quits. Working outside on a hot and sunny summer day? Give me a cheap refreshing lager over an IPA any day like this.
