Welcome to the site. North Jersey is a rather broad descriptor, as noted by @RonfromJersey
New Jersey (thankfully) is a great place to be into craft beer, because there are a LOT of pretty good liquor stores.

 

You might also want to check the reviews of liquor stores of nearby towns at http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/directory/9/US/NJ/ ---- and then take them with a grain of salt.

 

In that area, your best choices are Gary's in Wayne, Wine and Beverage Depot in Totowa, Bottle King in Wayne, Shoppers Vineyard in Clifton. Stews in Clifton gets stuff in but overpriced on almost everything. A little bit further out, you have Liquor Outlet in Boonton. Other places of note is Shoprite Liquors in Caldwell, Shoprite and Fairway in Little Falls (hit or Miss).

 

And I would throw in Rutherford Wine, small shop but capable of pleasant surprises.
