There is no doubt that the contemporary craft beer scene is competitive. I would suggest that as long as the drink local movement is vibrant then the local craft breweries will still have some wins in their competition against the "Cubs and Blue Jays".

No matter how a larger craft (or crafty) brewery markets itself it can't successfully project that it is a local brewery.

    Cheers!

Not a fan of Sierra Nevada? It is the only beer made (almost) outside of New England that I buy. It tastes great, Bought a case of bigfoot, hoptimun and 2.5 cases of celebration this year. Plus the 24 oz hop series releases. And a case of narwhal.

Vote with your wallet and palate. Good beer will continue to thrive. Poorly made beer will sit on the shelf. What is really frustrating to me is I can get 3 -4 week old Sierra Nevada fresher than I can get some of my local stuff brewed less than 50 miles from me. Some of the SN is bottle conditioned for 2 weeks before shipping out. Distro issues? I went as far as calling and FB the brewery without much headway. 2 months old for an IPA, no thanks.
