Yeah, as far as I know. I don't think they have yet though. I've talked to several others who are looking into it. One of the big hurdles is storage of the empty cans. Few breweries have room, and most are hesitant to rent space just for can storage.

Fremont hasn't canned yet, I'm at the Urban Beer Garden at least once or twice a month (and will be there more now that the little one is here) but always forget to ask about it.

I couldn't believe how long it took someone to mention NEBCO. They've been canning since before it was cool, and continue to put out some of the best canned beer anywhere. There's nothing better than cold Elm City in the summer, and fresh Gandhi-Bot any old time.

I love cans. And no need for a bottle opener!

Not really a new thing. Last time I looked, there was over 160 craft brewers canning over 500 beers. I think it will continue to grow.

As breweries grow and ship to other areas further away, it makes sense transport-wise to can their beers.

They are. And, according to a Twitter post a few days ago, they are about ready to go.

That's interesting. As I was reading about issues regarding the initial investment of buying printed cans, this seemed like the obvious answer to me. That would make the investment equivalent to the investment of buying labels for glass bottles.

They shouldn't be though. Sure, the initial cost may be greater, but what breweries could save in warehouse space and shipping costs should eventually outweigh the initial cost of converting to cans. A case of bottles has a lot of dead space, but a case of cans does not. You can fit more cans on a pallet than bottles. It seems like the advantage would go to cans.

Why would I want a piece of lumber instead of 22 ounces of delicious beer?

Seriously though, cans are fine with me. I pour 99% of my beer in the first place, and unlike some people, I don't have the slightest difficulty doing so from a can. They keep light out, they take up less space in the fridge, and they don't make that awful glass-on-glass clanking when I chuck 'em in the recycling bin. And I never have to wonder if my bottle opener is still where I left it. Really, what's not to like?

My understanding is that the minimum order for printed cans is relatively large (IIRC, 250,000. But I could be wrong.), so for smaller breweries this maybe an option.

Except, AB pays to be present at those games and I'm sure they'd be more than willing to pay to keep the craft brews out. I like what Pyramid did in SeattLe. They put their alehouse right outside of Safeco field. You can walk there before and after the game.
