Seems to me that if you have room to store empty bottles, you have room for empty cans...

I only allow canned beer on my boat, no bottles.
Thankfully there are more and more breweries canning beers so we can enjoy the good stuff out on the water.

I dont know if there are minimums when it comes to buying bottles, but the guys at Austin Beerworks told me that there is a minimum order of 96,000 cans for each type of beer. Say they're canning 3 beers at a time, that means that they need to buy almost 300K empty cans and store them. Here is a picture of what is approximately 12,000 cans - so imagine how much space 300,000 takes up!

It is Oscar Blues fault. It isn't the next big thing, it is the last big thing. At least one BA has been on a CanQuest (tm) and loged a few hundred beers in cans.

I'm stoked that sn's pale ale is canned and in stores by me. I'll be picking up a 12 pack and loading them into my beer fridge's can holder!

:slight_frown: still no pale ale around me, and we're already sold out of the Torpedo in cans before I could get my hands on any.

For special releases, Brewery Vivant has a can with generic info printed on the can. A sticker is placed on the front of the can indicating which beer is inside. They may have to start printing UPC stickers for each release, otherwise some stores inventory systems may get inaccurate over time.

Just saw Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout being offered in cans. Best thing about this is that I saw it being offered in a store that previously didn't carry the beer. Love the beer so happy to see it being made more widely available.

Deviant Dales was $13 a 4 pack when I went to the store to pick it up....couldn't get myself to buy it.

No Heady Topper, Ten Fidy, Sea Hag, Live Free or Die IPA , Surly Brewing Furious IPA, just to name a few off the top of my head..

If by fault you mean "some of the best fucking beers on the planet are sold in cans", then I'd agree with that fault. Heady Topper, Abrasive, Furious and Ten Fidy are all at or near their respective best of style...and there are many more out there I haven't yet sampled.

As someone else mentioned, cans provide greater UV protection, ease of recycling/disposal and functionality. If cans also extend freshness windows (I have no idea if they do), I vote for more craft beers to be sold in this format.

For me, this pic says it all. I have no access to Surly in Syracuse. I have to trade or purchase online to get. Not only does this brewery completely represent craft in cans for me... but the brews are also amazing. I will do what it takes to load up so I can enjoy these for all my camping and boating in upstate NY. Amazing brews in cans.

Craft in cans is pretty common now, I write this as I sip a Sixpoint Diesel, poured into my Hopus glass from a can

I'm a fan of beers in cans. From Sixpoint, Oskar Blues, Tallgrass, SN, amongst others. So many benefits and makes storing in the fridge so much easier.

    Cheers!
