I grew up in New York. Genny Cream was what my dad and I bought cases of for my high school graduation party many many years ago. It was my go-to beer as a young man. The fact that it was about six and a half bucks a case also helped quite a bit  I've now found a very decent locally brewed option - Solid Rock Cornerstone. I grab a 6 every now and then when I'm feeling nostalgic.

Spotted cow is a good beer and seeing how genny cream is so popular in the new York area I'm surprised cream ales haven't begun to take over aal as the cheap beer of choice.

This one is my favorite. I still have a few cans, ive been told they age strangely, more toffee then coffee. But we shall see. Either way im willing to bet its hard to find a better cream ale.

though the ones i enjoy are Neshaminy Creek Croydon, and sixpoint sweet action. both delish!

Funny this tread came up today. I went to a charity picnic yesterday, free beer and food, but I brought a backup cooler (like any good BA would). They had many coolers of Keystone Lite and Miller High Life, then I opened one cooler on the end it was like angels sang----full of ice and Genny!, Looked like a Goddamn beer comercial. It was hot and this was super refreshing. I love this style, and its been many years since I had a Genny. After two I switched to my own stash though.
I really enjoyed the Narragansett cream ale when they had it. I even filled out a questionnaire at a bar with Narragansett "sales girls", all I wrote was "bring back the cream ale".
I had the Grey Sail a month or so ago and although it was good, it was not quite as enjoyable as I remember the 'gansett.

Thanks for the aging info. I have one in my fridge that I'm waiting to bust out on a day when I feel like a 12% brew...probably not until fall.

That they age strangely isn't all that unexpected to me. This was a strange beer to begin with...in a really good way.

Right Brain Smooth Operator is spot on, and just won Best In Show at the World Expo of Beer this year. Great beer for a hot day!
