Thinking about taking a trip to Athens this weekend and was thinking about taking a tour of Creature Comforts Brewery as well as Terrapin Brewery while I'm up there. Has anyone taken the tour? I've taken quite a few brewery tours. A few in Georgia (Monday Night and Red Brick) so I already know that breweries in Georgia can't sell beer directly to the customer. My questions are what is the cost and what is included with the tour? Thanks in advance.

Their glass is $12 and the last time I was there, it was a glass shaped like this. They usually have their 4 house beers on - Bibo pilsner, Athena Berliner weisse, Reclaimed Rye on french oak and Tropicalia IPA - plus a couple extras. Tap list is here. If I remember correctly, you get 6 tickets, which is usually enough to try everything. The brewery is a converted tire shop and is spacious and well done. They also have a program where you get a discount at a number of local establishments for visiting the brewery.

So the brewery tour comes with a glass and 6 tickets? That's what I was expecting considering Monday Night and Red Brick tours are the same way. I checked the website and it didn't have the cost or any info on the tour, just the hours. Thanks for your help!

No problem. Most glass/tours in GA tend to be $12 with 6 tickets. State law says they can only give away 32oz of beer to consumers, which I think is where the 6 ticket estimate comes from. Clearly no one is measuring volume. Terrapin gives you 8 tickets and the option to upgrade to a specialty glass instead of a regular pint glass, and is by far the most beer "32oz" will get you in the state. Don't try to do Terrapin and Creature Comforts in the same day unless you have a designated driver or go to UGA.

Yeah the Monday Night Tour was $10, or $9 if you donate a necktie (which I did). They offer 6 tastings, but the bartenders are a bit heavy handed to say the least... I'm not complaining. I walked out of there with a good buzz kicking. I have a DD. Saturday is my birthday so the wife volunteered to DD. Thanks again for your help! You may have just talked me into it! :-)

Trappeze Pub is worth a stop for dinner or beer as well if you haven't been to Athens before. I'd suggest getting to both places early. Since Athens is a college town, both breweries tend to get busy fast.

I think you're going to have a great birthday.

Yeah I've been a UGA fan my whole life so I've been to Athens many times. It's been a 4-5 years though since I just moved back to Georgia from Hawaii last year. I'm not 100% positive I'm going this weekend, but I will definitely get up there in the near future. Thanks again for all your help.

Go Dawgs! Also, if you can make it there on a Tuesday, they have a special beer on tap for curious Tuesday. I like how they give you a bracelet instead of tickets. Tickets can get lost easily. Glad people usually have leftover tickets, I take advantage of that.

I'll be dropping by on Saturday! Going to hit up the 1-4 hours at the brewery, check into the hotel afterwards, then going to the GA Theater. What day(s) are you going to be there?

Doesn't look like I'm going to make it this weekend as of right now. My buddy was going with me but got rescheduled to work so I told him I would put it off for a time that we can both go. But rest assured this trip is going to happen soon!! Let me know how it turns out TonyJ815.
