    5 gal batch:
    14 lbs German Munich
    2 oz cascade @ 60
    2 oz @ 15
    2 oz @ 10
    2 oz @ 5
    2 oz @ 0
    2 oz @ whirlpool
    2 oz dryhop

    1 pack rehydrated US-05

Mash at 151 for 60 min
I want to murder this beer with hops that kick and punch you in the face and beat you to the ground and keep kicking you once youre down.....because my last beer had 6 oz in it and I could barely taste them. I still have 4 oz of Mosaic that I might toss in there just for fun, like 3 oz in the boil mixed in each addition and 1 in the dry hop. Edit: I realize if I do that than technically it wouldnt be a SMaSH.

Okay, go head and tell me what a weirdo I am!

Well, if you want a hop bomb, this ought to do it.

I think you need 2oz more in there, just to make it an even pound

If you want to focus on the hops...just use 2-row.

Munich is the same price and I need a bunch of that anyway.... Some malt flavor ought to break through after some time.

oh and yes i think it will be good, munich malt (provided its 2row, if its briess it needs to be bonlander) is a great malt and you will really like how it tastes in this beer

I never did a mash hop before. Does it really give it much more oomph? Im already throwing a pound in it. Fuck it Ill try it. The malt is from Canada Malting, so IDK if its 2 row, but Id assume it is. Im getting it off Farm House Brewing Supply's website. They have quality stuff from what Ive ordered so far....

My 1st choice for a punched-face hop bomb wouldn't be Cascade in large part b/c the hop t'ain't a good choice for dual-purpose use.

If you want a hop bomb that should be the focus and thus you should use 2. If you want munich to be the focus you should tone down the hops. The point of SMASH is to go big on one type of hop or grain to learn its usage and characterisitics (and make a fine brew). Of course this will make fine beer, but if it was mine I would either switch to 2 row or cut down the amount of hops.

I see what youre saying. My original choice was Columbus hops, but of course now that I want to order, theyre out. 10.99 a pound sounded real nice! So I picked Cascade cuz theyre 12.49 a lb. If I had more cash, Id just get a pound of Simcoe and do that!
Anyway, I really want to use ALOT of hops, because 6 oz was nearly undetectable in my last batch, I used Mosaic/Maris Otter(12 lbs) SMaSH. Its a tasty beer, but with my water the way it is, I think the whole pound, or at least 12 oz's ought to do it. How uch hops would you use, and at what intervals?

Your intervals look find. About how much, as I said if it was me doing a smash I would do a full pound if I used a simple base like 2 row or even MO or pilsner. I would cut the late additions by 75% if I used munich though.

This said i think what you have now will be great tasting.

I can get some Bravo for 9.99 a lb but its from 2012....Im sure theyre vacuum sealed and have been stored in a freezer, you think theyre still good? Id throw the whole pound in there. Im just trying to get the most in your face SMaSH for the most reasonable price.

Okay thats actually not bad. If I got the Columbus from Bells and the rest from FarmHouse, its $1.81 more.....
What would be tastier in your opinion? Columbus, or Cascade?

You should really just quit fucking around and make each one of those hop additions a full pound.
