    ...maybe it's a lease thing.

Heard rumors about the uneven floor being the reason they havent brewed yet. I doubt Chad would have moved a bunch of equipment into the space if he knew it wouldn't be suitable for brewing.

Bummed to hear about the end of Cellar Reserve. Tried to get in last year with no luck. Hopefully the one off releases will be as easy to get as the recent ones, so locals can get what they want and non locals can easily get them. If all the beer they release is more available as a result of them ending the Cellar Reserve I will be happy.

Shame that Nightcap was sold out before the 2nd onsale today but happily grabbed 6 of each of the Pluot and Dry Hopped Surette Reserva. In and out within 60 seconds.

Dry Hopped Surette Reserva is now out too...I missed out b/c I logged on 5 minutes too late.

Same, logged in 6 minutes too late and Pluot was also gone. At least I maxed on original order.

The end of the Cellar Reserve Program must have lit a fire under the behinds of a bunch of members to make sure they get the most out of their last release.

If I had to guess it'd be because people now have an extra $350 they don't need to save. Or because these releases sound extra nice to people or because CS didn't make as much as previous releases or any number of other reasons really. Speculation is fun though, like when there's an ambulance at a college bar on a Saturday...

'Speculation' sounds like a great name for a sour. I'm in for a case. Not offering guesses on cost, ingredients, or release date.

    1) My guess is that it has to be a lease thing, no smart business owner would sit on (and probably still paying interest on) $texas expensive equipment and not use it to recoup the cost. A legal issue (lease or maybe even licensing?) would be the only thing stopping them from brewing.

    2) Again, my guess is that for the equipment, it was purchased/ordered and built custom and delivered before said 'floor' issue arose. Without having anywhere else to store it, it's probably best to put it in it's intended location, even if it's not hooked up.

I can't even imagine how much money they've lost by not producing beer on their system. Unless of course they paid cash, but still, lost time = lost revenue

I am floored you're the first person to come up with that. Hopefully Russian River gets word as they're running out of good names.

Looks like some brewery in the UK used it already. Time to add some freedom to the name and lambaste the English for always copying us. I mean you can't just slap English in front of IPA and call it a new style because you really like malts. Geez, the gall of those Brits

Does anybody know if the Surette Reserva Dry Hopped being released soon is the standard Surette Reserva or if it spent time in other barrels? Was mostly curious if it might be the version aged in Chardonnay barrels but just dry-hopped. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

At Zwanze Day, one of the CS people told me that the reason they are not brewing at The Source was because The Source had a problem with them hooking up the glycol system. Not sure if this is because of the drainage problem everybody keeps talking about or not, but I thought I would pass on what I heard.

As for the death of the Cellar Reserve, great news for me and a bunch of other locals that haven't been able to try any of these beers anyways for the past 2-3 years. A good portion of these memberships were owned by out-of-staters who had trustees. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it always rubbed me the wrong way knowing that all of this good beer was bypassing the locals, who regularly support CS.

In the end, I don't really care what they do as long as their prices don't go up anymore. 18 months ago at the Barrel Cellar, Origins was $8/pour, now its $12. Their latest bottle release (cherry pie) was $15/bottle, while a little over a year their main sours (L'Brett, Origins, Nightmare) were $10-11ish.

The bottles have been $15 for all the member beers this year. Members get a discount so the cost was $12.75 a bottle but when you see that same beer in the tap room at $12 a glass it was cheaper to go in and drink a glass then it was to buy the bottles.

And to say that all the beers bypassed the locals is a little off. The first year the memberships didn't sell out. Last year they didn't sell out until well into December so a local could have easily been in on the membership either of those years.

    1) I never said "all beers were bypassed" just " a good portion", which is pretty reasonable if you talk to people in Denver metro.
    2) I couldn't get a membership 2 days after they went on sale in Oct/Nov.
    3) I wasn't talking about reserve member prices. Obviously the member only beers are more exclusive and hence expensive.

They're still on sale at the Source, and I think I've seen it at Small Batch and Mr B's this week.

Sad I couldn't get into RS, glad I got to try all the beers and cellar some as a trustee, looking forward to more Brett d'or for consumption in the future. It's a wash.
