The death of Cellar Reserve is an issue I think we've already beaten into the ground. As DenverBeerDrinker pointed out...the first 2 years of CS, Crooked Stave could not move memberships to save their life. Once the hype train got rolling the interest in the 3rd year skyrocketed, and it was nice knowing that since I supported CS early on, I didn't have to worry about winning a lottery.

As for the locals vs. out-of-staters argument, I am obviously from NY and had a trustee pick up my beer. If I could have exchanged my CS membership/beers (which were for the most part variations of core beers) to have The Source/The Barrel Cellar as my local place to go for beers, I'd do it in a second.

You had/have access to way more CS beers than I do. I would kill to have access to Hop Savant on draft. But I guess not all of this good beer was bypassing the locals. Just the things that seem better to you.

    Hi Everyone!

Sarah Haughey, Crooked Stave Marketing & Cellar Reserve Coordinator here. I have heard some grumblings about people telling others it's OK to crash the release on November 1st - this event is open to MEMBERS AND TRUSTEES ONLY! Members are welcome to bring significant others and friends (within reason), but members of the general public will NOT be able to attend. We will be checking ID's at the door to avoid any confusion. If you are attending tomorrow, please be sure to have a valid ID to show at the door.

Also, our floors are sloped perfectly at our taproom and our drains are fully functioning. Stay tuned for updates on our equipment.

    Cheers!
    Sarah

Check ID? Presumably they should be checking membership/trustee cards.

Oh, so they're saying they have had no excuse not to brew, they just chose not to. That makes it a lot better.
And how about that final CS toast! Thanks for recognizing all the support the members have given the last few years.:slight_frown:

And to be completely clear....I'm not bashing Crooked Stave (too much) as much as I'm responding to all the poeple who swear up and down they can do no wrong.
I understand they have A LOT going on and getting a full blown brewery operational is not trivial. However, if it was my last release party, I would have not only done a toast, I would have been there the entire time personally thanking all the people who got me this point.

Either way, I had a good time and thanks to all the people who brought bottles and participated in an epic bottle share. I guess my crooked stave cellar collection will finally start shrinking, sadly.

Yeah, no Chad, no toast, that was unfortunate.

I too had a great time with everyone, glad to see familiar faces and meet new ones.

I thought I saw him for a little bit. Ah well. I didn't bring my fancy CS glassware anyway. For events like that it's always the glass of shame for me. Anyone open any of the new bottles yet?

I got there around noon and Chad was standing right in the middle of the taproom chatting with some people.

I tried the dry hopped surette last night, it was very good

Free beer, free pizza, great bottle share, great company.... Oh yeah, let us focus on the negatives from the awesome party. Would a toast have made the party THAT much better?!? Sure it would have been a nice addition, but I think free beer does the trick as well. I showed up 2 hours late and still had an amazing time. Sucks it was the only party I was able to attend as a half member, but it was great. Looking forward to Cellar Reserve style beers on the shelves and the many great things Crooked Stave will do in the future. Cheers to continued success

I think you're kind of missing the underlying issue with respect to the toast.

I don't think anyone would have left the event (From NY, I didn't go) thinking "Boy, that event was OK, but if they had a really big toast it would have put it over the top for me."

It's just another small example of CS committing to something and then simply not following through. A toast would have been a nice touch, but is not an event breaker. But if you remind Reserve members several times that there will be a toast and to bring a glass for it, you better have a toast.

We opened all three that night.

L'brett d Pluot was really good. Super sour and probably my favorite of the fruited l'brett series.

The dry hop surette was my least favorite of the three pretty straight forward taste.

Nightcap was delicious. So much espresso on the nose but not so much in hoe flavor profile. Still super delicious.

In my opinion a great send off to the reserve society even after anticlimactic end of the year party.

Well, "NY, didn't go" had you been there perhaps your would've noticed the absence of glassware at the brewery. They asked for people to bring glasses because otherwise there wouldn't have been anything to drink out of. Agree that a toast would've been nice. However, having something to hold the free beer was a nice side result of bringing the glass. #jussayin
