I am currently in negotiations in trying to trade for a batch 60 but he says his bottle has no wax. I was under the impression that they all had wax. Can someone clarify for me? Thanks
I'm pretty sure the one I had had wax. I'd rather just have one of the saisons, or Trinity 7 Day Sour.
It was an easily attainable $10 bottle, what is there to negotiate? And the three cases I drank had green wax.
All of mine had wax. However, I drank my last couple this past weekend and IMO it had fallen off a bit from when it was originally released. Still a delicious beer...but definitely not what it was when it was very fresh.
My limited experience with hopped up wild ales has generally been that I love them fresh, with some age they haven't been worth my money.
Agreed. While I can understand how someone might still enjoy them, those distinct American hop notes seem to die out in a year or less. In some cases (Batch 60 being one), that's even less than 6 months. While 60 is one of CS's absolute best when fresh, I'd take a fresh Red Swingline or even a year-old Le Terroir over a Batch 60 right now.
Not sure where you guys are storing your beers but Batch 60 (although it was better fresh) is still tasting great.
I ended up buying 6 bottles of Batch 60. I've opened 3 recently and they ranged from muted/dead hop notes (stored in a fridge) to buttery (cellar temp to the fridge for 15 minutes), to simply not as good as it was (another from the fridge) I'd still take a Red Swingline over all 3 of those although when fresh I feel the exact opposite. I still have one left and at this point I'm just going to keep it for a long time and see where it goes. Brett seems to be up and down, so hopefully I catch it on an "up."
After thinking about this pretty sure there were a small amount of cases (20-40) that were shipped out of state. They did not get waxed prior to being shipped apparently so totally possible it isn't waxed.
