Just got back from the store where I saw CS's Saison Vielle on the shelves, not the Vielle saison. Is this a most recent batch of that beer? And is it the original recipe or is it recipe #3?

New recipe from what I hear. I also heard that Chad is saying it may be the best beer he has ever made. I didn't hear him say that so it's a rumor.

Sounds like I know what I will be picking up next time I hit the store up.

It's going to be Vieille going forward and there are already 2 or 3 batches of Vieille. As I understand it, they started dry hopping when then made the name switch. The newest batch (they started labeling the batches) is more funky that previous batches.

I had one a few days ago, and I think I liked it better pre-dry hop. I got more oak and maybe a little more tartness in the earlier one, which I liked. But, it was still good; it did seem more bitter than I remembered, as well.

I agree, I loved that first batch and did not enjoy the Vielle at alll. When I hit up the store yesterday and saw they had gone through their batch of Vielle Saison and had Saison Vielle on the shelves I got super excited hoping it was the original recipe.

But I do look forward to giving this new batch a shot.

A little birdie has reported that there may be a little extra sour treat blended in to the newest batch...

If it's the label w/ "Saison" in large print, it is the more tart original version. All batches going forward have "Vieille" in large print, and they are now putting little batch numbers on the back label. If you see what you saw, buy it all...

I think I just might....well, can't afford to buy it all, but definitely going to buy some.

I tell you what, I'm drinking a Trinity Saison Man right now, and it's pretty damn good. It reminds me a lot of the first Vielle Saison. It's tart (not super sour) and yummy. I can't believe the price; I think it was $9.99 or maybe $10.99 for a 750 mL. It's low on carbonation, but maybe that's by design (it says it's a pre-industrial saison). You should check it out. Damn, I'm an idiot: I poured half of this sucker for my wife. I want it back!!!
