Shouldn't be any real issues especially if you can "prove" you bought it state side, but just declare both directions it's the smarter life decision

We used to go right over the border to the duty free for beer all the time, my grandpa liked Canadian Labatt blue better than the American kind, I guess its got a higer abv?

Several years ago I drove to Winnipeg for hockey. Came back over the border with like 8 or 9 cases of beer.

At the border, they had me go into the customs office. Waited about 30 minutes to be told I had to pay $20 in tax.

Pretty sure they were running my ID and doing background checks... I was the only person in the office

Used to grab some Molson XXX every year while I was in college and bring it back to the US with us. Just always told them some left over beer from this weekend. They never asked how much or made any kind of deal about it, just told us to move along.

I brought about five bombers back from Toronto(bellwoods) last summer, told them what i had, and they waved me through.

Interesting-I made trips to Ontario yearly for about 10 + yrs. We always declared what we had. Sometimes we paid and sometimes not. It was always better to pay than to buy in Canada-price and availability. Coming back I never had a problem-then I never thought they had anything there that I wanted that was not available in the states. What are you looking to bring back ?
