Crowlers are simply a horrendous idea. They should not exist. I will never buy one. Ever.

It's simple. Here in Minnesota we currently can by beer from local breweries in reusable/returnable glass bottles. In fact, the state law states that growlers can only, in fact, be a bottle or a certain size. (I'll agree here that liquor laws can be absurd. Said size for Minnesota can only be 65 Oz or 750 ml. No other size is allowed).

Now, out of the blue, at least one of our local breweries has noticed there is no legal definition of "bottle" so they claim that they're non-returnable aluminum can is a a bottle.

Legal arguments are the smallest part of this. I don't think a non-returnable non-reusable non-resealable container is a good replacement for the glass returnable/reusable growlers we're used to. Of those factors, even as a beer geek, I find "non-resealeable" the item of least concern.

    Don't buy these things. Ever.
