I don't know... I feel like a growler bottle can be filled with much less head space and therefore lower packaged oxygen...

Growler bottle neck size < crowler top size, therefore growler bottle air < crowler.

Growlers are also reuseable, instead of just recyclable.

The only advantage of crowler I see is I don't have to plan ahead to take my growler. From business perspective bars with crowlers probably sell more volume too because customers who wouldn't normally carry a growler around might buy a crowler on the spot. (i.e. The drunken customer impulse buy...)

Just have to give my guy credit where credit is due.

Mendez fuel where I purchased the bad crowlers took 1 of them back (the other was opened) and replaced them with 6 crowlers no charge (those mariachis are $24 a piece!)

Someone giving someone 6 crowlers to make up for bad ones? I give him a lot of business.

I didn't even know a crowler was a thing until yesterday. I think I like them.

Well I am curious to what was wrong with them. I know the shape they were in based on the post, did he elaborate about what caused it? Was it a faulty seal? Not that I should give a Flying F$#K because it seems that Texas is backsliding in their beer law's and these are now somewhat illegal here. FYI nice windfall, do show them some love in the form of repeat business.

When the crowlers were filled the keg had just been tapped. Because of this, more air was in the can that should have been.

Nothing wrong with it. Either contraction due to colder temps or a poor fill or a combo of both. Nothing to be worried about.

The quality of the operation/pour is going to have the greatest impact. If they flush with CO2 first, very little air should get into the can. If they fill it to the top and seal it properly, I could last quite a while. Sounds like between the new keg and may less experienced bartender you ended up with a sub par beer.
