A beer store in my area recently purchased a Crowler machine, and announced that the 32 oz. cans will be priced at $1.99 each, or three or more for $1.49 each, with the beer cost the same as 32 oz. growler fills. Price for the non-reusable can seem high to me, especially because their beer prices are generally high anyway. What are the rest of you paying for Crowlers?

Ummm, when I was in Florida last I got as many crowlers I could, and just so you're thinking about this too, those machines are very expensive. I don't exactly remember how much I paid per crowler though. Sorry if I'm not much help.....

The all around convenience factor of a crowler over glass almost makes it up for me. The value rises especially when places do them right, which extends the freshness longer than glass. If nothing else, drill a few small holes in the bottom and make planters out of them when you are through. $1.99 for awesome beer vessel AND a planter? Score!

yeah - for tailgates, the beach, pool, etc the big glass growler isn't an option. The Crowler comes through big time in those instances.

They are also far easier to pack/ship.

The ones that I have bought have been anywhere from $6-9 each filled. Not sure what the actual can price was.

I have purchased several crowlers and have never been charged for the can itself.

Al's of Hampden/Pizza Boy charges the same price as a standard 32 oz. growler fill for a crowler, so there is no charge for the actual can.

One dollar in GA. But I mean, you can save it for longer unlike a grower.. Plus like someone else said u could take it to the beach or the river or whatever. They keep so well.

Same here. A newer local brewery started using them. The cost of the can is built into the fill. $6-10 per crowler is normal for their pricing.

The situation above would highly annoy me. I don't know how much empty crowlers cost, but if it's really a $2 upcharge when I can use the glass growler I've owned for years for free, there are few times I would waste the money.

The place where I go has an extra $1 built in to the price for a crowler fill. Like others said, it's a convenience factor really. They are recyclable though, says very clearly on the cans I see to please do so.

Anyone know the shelf life of a crowler? I can't seem to find a good answer. I've got a stout I got from Al's of Hapdem a little over a month ago and haven't opened it yet. I'm assuming since its sealed were not loosing any carb but I'm not sure how long it can go.

I had a crowler of Coconut Stout and Hot Schtuff from Three Palms in my fridge for over six months and when we shared them, it dominated a bottle share we had! Should be fine if you aren't shaking it up or moving it around. I left my in my fridge!

Got a fill at Prohibition Pig this weekend and they charges $2 for the crowler. It makes sense to me that a place that charges for the growlers would have to charge something for the crowler since there are separate charges for the container and fill.

The 2 places I go near me do not charge for the crowlers. Just for the beer.
