I am sure there are some on here... I looked back a couple pages and didn't see a thread so I figured I'd start a new one. Here is my flickr page with photos of some of mine (324 different ones)... My goal is to get photos of all the unique ones. I have 100-200 new ones ready to photograph. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chadhobbs/sets/72157622171984559/ I am pretty obsessive about my photos... each time I do a batch they get a little better. I use an elaborate setup involving lights and tripods and an SLR. I'd love any constructive criticism on the caps. Ideally I'd love to take pics of the sides and back of the caps... but I just don't have the time. I've sold some on eBay as well... a few years ago. I'd like to start again. I like to collect USA craft brewery caps... but I will keep any caps. Even plain unbranded ones. Or soda caps. I've bought a few old cork backed Cincinnati ones... Red top and maybe burger? But 99% of my caps come from beers I've drank. I keep duplicates too... I probably have 1,000 great lakes caps. I've been opening beers with a bic lighter for years so most of my caps are un-creased. I recently moved in with my GF and she has one of these http://www.brixdesign.com/default.asp?Action=Details&Item=390 It's made for opening jars, but it will take off a bottle cap w/o bending it. I might start using it. Actually I've recently stopped using lighters and have been using an adjustable measuring spoon http://home-improvement-review.com/adjustable-measuring-spoon-clever-boing-boing.html works like using a lighter but a bit easier. I'd guess I have around 10k caps... I started saving caps around 1998. I've never done any trading... but would be open to it. Just thought I'd share my bottle cap collection obsession. I also collect bottles... but I rarely add to the collection... they take up too much space. I recently moved and was amazed at how many boxes it took to pack them all. I probably have 100-125, plus one old one I bought... a red top from the 1910's I believe. I think it's pre-pro...
There are some cap collectors who are active in this forum, and you'll be seeing posts from them soon. Have you Googled for cap collector websites? There are a few of them that are amazing, and they have photo presentations like yours. If you can't find any sites I'll did into my Favorites lists and see if I can find them and I'll post them here. It's been a few years since I used them to try to identify a mysterious cap. I collect caps, but without any organization. I'm just in the process of making magnets from mine and putting them on the underside of the heat duct on the ceiling of my man cave. Nothing special; maybe there are 1,500 of them so far. Just fyi, and easy way to remove a cap without a crease is to put a quarter on top of the cap while using the opener. The closed-loop type of opener works best for this.
I collect caps also. Don't have too many. Just below 200. But my goal is to make a table or bar top or some other kind of art with them
I have about 5,000 different beer caps in my collection and maybe 50,000 extras, mostly west coast micro's as old as 25+ years old to last night. Shoot me a message if you want some, I need to get rid of some these! Trade for caps, beer, openers...hell, I'm givin' 'em away, too! Custom orders, by the pound, foreign, American...whatever!
I don't know if I am less of a collector and more of a saver. I open my beers using a quarter with my bottle opener and then toss them in a large mason jar. I have no plans to do anything with them, just to keep them and reminisce . . .
I started collecting a couple of year's ago and I'm up to about 800 caps. I would love to see if I have anything you would like to trade for.
