That does sound good. Is that an exclusive or just something they have first dibs on?

No idea. A few of the beers seem to be single barrel, so I imagine fairly exclusive.

The member I trustee for was asking about :
    • Persica aged in Calvados Apple Brandy Barrels
Anyone see it this year or hear anything about it? Seems CS hasn't released it yet and it wasn't part of their Q4 beers....

Hey Cellar Reserve Members! We have a little announcement to make. Prior to re-launching the Cellar Reserve program this year we had a few beers in mind that we planned on releasing. One of them was the Persica aged in Calvados Apple Brandy Barrels. We were especially excited for this beer and as such announced to the world that it was expected to be released sometime in 2018 to our members. Some of you may remember this beer and have been waiting for it. But as you all know, it's not been release and all 2018 beers have in fact been released for the year. Here's a message from our Owner-Brewmaster Chad Yakobson explaining exactly what happened to this particular version of Persica. I hope you all understand and can appreciate the reason why we did not release this beer! Cheers!

"We had an unfortunate situation this past year, where a lot of 6 oak barrels that came in on a single shipment appear to have had a contamination that then infected the beer. The lot included 4 Sauvignon Blanc Barrels and 2 Apple Brandy Barrels. All six barrels were filled with the Harvest 2017 Persica. We will be dumping 5 of 6 barrels of Persica we had aging due to what we consider undesirable characteristics. We have sat on the barrels for over a year, hoping they might come around and that we were wrong about their condition. It is a huge disappointment on our end as we lost all that beer and as you know Perisca is one of, if not our favorite beer we make annually. We still have one barrel of the Apple Brandy that we have hung on to as the character is right on the edge of being amazing, so we are holding on to see how it evolves. At this time we cannot package that beer, however.

We hope all the members understand the rigorous sensory evaluation each beer goes through and realizes that we are dedicated to the highest quality and will not release something we can't stand behind."

Does anyone have any experience in/interest in being a trustee for the 2019 club? Not exactly sure how the trustee works with this program. Is it simply that my trustee can pick up for me? I thought I remembered reading something that it was a little more complicated than that but I may be misremembering that.

Also, if anyone wants to potentially be a trustee let me know. I haven't traded in forever but my El Catador trustee would definitely vouch for me. Thanks in advance.

Funny enough, I just realized that El Catador members can pick up their allotment at the OB taproom in Boulder. In reality, you and others, could have one trustee for both memberships.

It has been a lifetime since I've opened a Cellar Reserve beer. I should probably crack the few I have left from 2013 and see what time has done to them.

I trusteed for a couple cats on the 2018 CS. It’s as simple as them picking the beer up for you. CS did a good job holding the first couple releases at the old location and providing free beer and some small bites.

I really wasn’t too impressed with any of the beers released but everything went smoothly.

One of the cats I trusteed for didn’t reup so if you need a trustee I can pick it up for ya. If you’re looking for a guy that hits all the releases all over town and that type shit I’m not your guy.
