What is this beer pulling in? I have to confess ignorance on the specifics on releases of Crooked Stave reserve beers so any info would be appreciated. I got a chance to try this last night at brewpub showcasing CS beers and I was very impressed. Info on CS Origins would be appreciated too.

Origins has been released twice to the reserve society online. WWBV was on-site release (not reserve society) with line around the building. Not sure what WWBV is trading for, but Origins will be easier to get.

Origins batch #1 was sold to reserve members and then at the brewery and sold out in a few hours. Origins Batch #2 is online for reserve members right now and I assume will be sold at the brewery soon. Can't get Batch #2 yet since it's a pre-order. Members won't be able to pick them up until end of the month or beginning of Oct.

WWBV is fantastic and I get it every time they have it on draft. They released around 1200-1300 bottles. Tons of people were shut out at the release. I've sent a few to BAs I trustee for since they couldn't get any.

Did larger trade awhile back that included a Chocolate Rain for 2x WWBV if that helps any. Rest of the trade were normal bruery Reserve Society bottles for a few more CS bottles.

I did try to even it out a bit more with extras haha. Think it did end up being pretty fair, one of the other bottles was a Griffon Bruxxellois that I went 1 for 1 on with a Bourbon barrel nightmare on Brett iirc. Both of us ended up pretty happy with the trade.

Who won? I've got both beers and wouldn't give 2 WWBV for a Chocolate Rain

Agreed, I would trade a Chocolate Rain straight up for a WWBV or WWBO any day.

WWBV is a fantastic beer. Wish I kept more of what I had.

Got one for a Sour in the Rye Kumquat. It was delicious, one of my favorite beers of the year so far.

Do you think it'll cellar well for a few years? Or best drank fresh?

I'm expecting this one to cellar well. I have drank several already and have had it on tap many times. I'm just hoping I can keep 1-2 around long enough. I still love WWBY and WWBI and think they have done well.

But it's just my opinion. Pretty sure others might disagree.

Yeah I wouldn't have opened the 2nd if I had known I wasn't going to like it.

I have eight left and would happily trade a few for a few '13 Chocolate Rains. Just sayin'.
