Difficult for me as I have not had four (Hanging Hills, Black Hog, Half Full, Outer Light) of these breweries. I like Still Hill as styles are varied and everything is solid but give the edge to Back East for their Porter and hoppy beers (Misty Mountain excluded). Availability and format also a factor in decision.
I think we just play along with the options provided. Also missing Kent Falls, OEC and as @mlm61 mentioned, Cold Creek and Beer'd.
I think Cold Creek and Kent Falls are the best breweries in CT. Beer'd and OEC are good too. But of the options provided, I'd say Outer Light. How about a poll of the worst breweries in CT?
Didn't really want to start a separate thread for this but I have to get other ba's opinions. So I recently traded for a crowler of great notion brewings double stack (theres alot of hype arouND this beer and I will say that it lives up to it!) You guys are probably wondering what does this have to do with CT? And all I have to say to that is "Winnie" Cold creek breweries "Winnie" I tried winnie a few weeks ago and have come to the conclusion that winnie is just as good as great notions "double stack"! Tons of coffee, nice sweetness from the maple! May be one of the best stouts in ct!
Didn't try adelaide, I had a dipa that I can't remember the name of which was pretty good. Then I had winnie which I thought was very good.
I was just at cold creek today and got a growler or Adelaide. I had a glass of Winnie and a 4 oz sample of Jane. Personally, I like Minnie Winnie more than normal Winnie. I actually think the flavor is more intense in the lower abv version. During the summer, I was going to cold creek weekly to get minnie winnie. I'm a big fan of theirs. Sean brews some GREAT beers.
Funny, a few short months ago, Steady Habit would not have made the poll due to being "a tier above" (i.e. NEB, OEC, Kent Falls). Now, they don't make the poll for other reasons.
Went to Hanging Hills and Hog River this weekend and really enjoyed both spots. The taprooms were spacious and cool. Both places had a good crowd on late Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised by the beer as well. The Hartbeat DIPA from HH was great, and the other offerings I had very solid. Glitter Party DIPA from Hog River also had a ton of flavor and was smooth for a 9+% ABV. Will definitely check out both again.
