anyone have a link for CT growler laws (or just know them?) I didnt think a restaurant could fill growlers, only brew pubs. I ask because I saw an online beer menu that listed growler prices. They were ridiculously expensive (basically the same as $/oz as in glass) but they were posted. Seemed strange
http://www.brewersassociation.org/government-affairs/laws/growler-laws/ Yup, retailers can fill growlers.
hmmm, that's interesting. I would expect a lot of places to be all over it if it were true. I found another thread but it's several years old, maybe even older than our "reform" that allowed Sunday sales http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/ct-laws-growlers-etc.21067/
No it's definitely against the law in Connecticut. Edit: that link to the Brewer's Assoc say yes for "retailers", that means liquor stores, not restaurants/bars.
Been in CT. a long time. Never heard of a restaurant being able to fill growlers. Far as I know your answer is no. Cheers
There is a place in Fairfield county that has growlers on the menu but it is basically a "hipper" way to say they are offering a pitcher of beer to be consumed on premise, but they put it in a growler. Could be deceiving if you see an online menu.
do you think it's that "retailers" can sell prefilled growlers only (Like BBC or Burnside) or that they can set up a filling station? I'd be happy with filling stations but if they were legal, why isnt anyone doing it? I really want filling stations! that completely makes sense
I thought I heard a rumor that this might be changing as well as extending hours for liquor sales again
that would be awesome. I looked at the generic schematic/floor plans for Total Wine (one just opened in Manchester) and it showed a whole corner devoted to growler filling stations.....with "*features vary by location" to quickly dash my hopes
The governor is proposing a bill that would allow stores to stay open until 11, let retail store set their own prices, no set minimum markups and fill growlers like in NY. Anything seems to be a go with this guy as long as it generates more tax $.
The bill to allow restaurants/bars to fill growlers is not part of the Governor's plan, it was introduced thru the legislature and is separate. It was also introduced last year and didn't go anywhere. Looks like this year it is moving along. http://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/cgabillst...elBillType=Bill&which_year=2015&bill_num=6885
