With news talking about possible future easing of the Cuban embargo, it made me wonder if we have been missing anything in the beer world. I would doubt it, but who knows. Anyone know if any good Cuban beers are out there, that could be coming our way sometime in future?

Heck with that, does this mean I can finally get some Havana Club now?

What news by the way are you speaking of cause I have heard nothing but the status quo.

You don't really think the people of Cuba are free to start a craft brewery do you?

I had a Cuban beer in Panama a number of years back, a bit before I developed a sense of what was good or bad as far as beer, but it wasn't a light adjunct by any means. I remember it being thick and malty.

It had a pirate on the label, so let me see if I can track it down.

How about Hatuey? I don't care for their beer but their non-alcoholic malt beverage is killer, refreshing and readily available here in Miami.

I spent three months in Cuba in 2006, and I remember there being just two beers. One was the Buccanero which reminded me of Budweiser, and the other I believe was called Cristal? Cristal tasted a lot like High Life.

It's going to be a while before we have trade with Cuba, the congress has to lift the embargo. But it will be interesting to see if any beer will be exported and if the trade embargo lift results in a proliferation of craft breweries there. I hope they send some cigars over . As far as the politics in Cuba are concerned, we have normal diplomatic and trade relations with a boat load of countries who have similar situations. I believe most of our friends and allies, maybe all of them, have normal relations with Cuba. I know one thing, the embargo hasn't done a thing to help the Cuban people.

More steps taken today. AND - you can bring back up to a hundred bucks worth of cigars, with no problem. :sunglasses:

Now does Cuba have the daddy-o breweries like the USA does? I mean even the average ones here these days are friggin' great. If they don't, we need to reach out to the Cuban people and help relieve their suffering. :grinning:
