Any recommendations on bottle shops in a 15 mile radius?
Or a draft house that is worthwhile to visit ?

JAX for a bottle shop. I would say Ale Yeah! in Roswell if you happen to venture down that way but it's > 15 miles.

Cherry Street and Tanners for your draft house (brewpub). Cherry Street is a brewpub; Tanner is a restaurant next door. Obviously if you need to eat hit Tanners and then hit Cherry Street when it's open. Some of the best brews out of Atlanta are coming out of there.

Cumming Beverage Mart on Buford Road at Exit 14 is the shiz. The owner is a craft beer guy and has lots of selection and they are super helpful. If they don't have something, they'll get it.

    Awesome thanks guys!
It's been a while since I've been there and I know it's growing fast !

Cherry Street may be the most underrated brewery in the state, IMO. Went to the taproom on a random Sunday in June to find eight awesome barrel-aged beers, including five different imperial stouts. But Damebier, their re-creation of Adam from the Wood, took the cake. It was amazing! Their "regular" beers were tasty, too. Loved Chief Sawnee's Coconut Porter and Hoppy Balboa v. Apollo Green IPA.

Nice meal at Nick Tanner's if American/Southern comfort food is your thing. You can get a flight there, but save yourself for the taproom.

    Wow - what a list!
I will definitely hit Cherry St - sounds like an interesting layout over there.
I will follow up on this this thread after I stop in tomorrow. Thanks to all for the pics and kind advice:slight_smile:

I have to suggest Cherry St. as well. Do not leave without trying the coconut porter like said above. If you see a big guy named Chris (might have "snake" written on his brewery shirt), ask him for a quick brewery tour. Dude is awesome and a great brewer.

Damnit, I would have killed to try that raspberry balzac! Guys down here in our tasting group said it was delicious.

I do want to emphasize that you may not find any of these beers on tap when you go, so YMMV for sure. But this was a random Sunday, too. Whatever you do find, I hope you'll find it's awesome.

If you go during tour-time, you'll probably get to meet Nick, and he's really great. If not, then do let the bartender know and perhaps he can show you around a bit. That's what they did for me. It was really quiet that day, so that may have been a factor, too.

My bartender was awesome, by the way. I blanche at the idea of "beer cocktails," but I was willing to indulge one of his experiments--an infusion of thyme into blueberry juice, added to the 2014 Balzac. Holy Smokes, that was amazing! Dare I say, it tasted a lot like Prairie Bomb!

Anyway, have a great time and let us know how it goes.

The Brewers there are really great guys. Check cherry st out for sure. Had a few beer with them 2 years ago at the Porter looking for kbs and they were really nice.
The beer is damn good too.

Saturday I went to Cumming Beverage Mart and was helped by Steve who steered me towards some good wines and picked up Founders Imperial Stout. Got a growler fill of Tropicalia next door.
Just returned from Cherry St - Hannah was my bartender, blonde-stylish-friendly. Chatted her up and imbibed a sample of the Apollo Green IPA and the OASIS IS
    and
8 ounce pour of the Balzac 2014 and Rasp Balzac 2015.
Highly recommended - can't wait to revisit!
Thanks for all the help Ga BAs!

What are some solid bottle/cans available around Cumming? I have family who live there heading up to visit in a few weeks and would like to ask them to bring me some stuff I cannot get in VA. Thanks in advance!

@TomCat11 Depending on your tastes, the Cumming Beverage Mart should have some of our local options that don't make it to Virginia (Creature Comforts, Burnt Hickory, Orpheus)

Excellent news. I was going to ask if Creatures Comforts and Orpheus made it up there. I figured Orhpeus would. I have only had Tropicalia and Transmigration of Souls by them and looking to try others they offer.

Orpheus just sent a new IPA out called Life Death Life Truth. Would think they'll still be shipping it for a few weeks, but not 100% positive. Tropicalia and Transmigration disappear quick, but they shouldn't have a problem finding other CC or Orpheus offerings. Burnt Hickory has a few different ones on shelves, mainly bombers, but recently started distributing sixers of Ezekiel's Wheel pale and Cannon Dragger IPA. I'd check bottle dates if picking up bombers, but sixers should be fairly fresh.

I tried Life Death recently in Athens, so it should definitely be in ATL area. I'll echo and add to the previous comment, I heard that Life Death takes much less time to brew than transmigration, so it should be easier to find. Btw, that beer was awesome.

Oh, Orpheus Atalanta sour saison is pretty badass too, and it's always available!

Anything new in Cumming for nearby breweries and/or shops? Beers to be on the lookout for? I'll be down for several days the week before Christmas. Where we'll be staying is about 20 minutes from Cherry St Co-Op and Cumming Beverage Mart so really north Cumming area. Open to probably anywhere within 30 min drive.
