Just wait till you put a few years on a Curmudgeon then you will truly fall in love with this beer! I have had few other beers with age on them that have blown my mind as much as this one. I found no alcohol presence at all which left plenty of room for the other flavors to come forth.

I thought it was good, but didnt really stack up to GL BA Blackout, BA Siberian Night, Abyss, or KBS/CBS.

OP - I think Curmudgeon is a great beer, but Old Ale isnt my favorite style. Not a fan of the earthy medicinal feeling from the ones Ive had. Old Ale and Altbier just dont tickle my fancy.

I couldnt finish but 2 ounces of it. I let the other 2 or 3 ounces sit for someone else at the table. Not really excited to try it from the bottle.

To each their own, for I have had all of those beers multiple times except for BA Siberian, and BA Rasputin is my favorite out of those.

Ill agree that BA Rasputin is really pricey, and might not be worth the price to a lot of people, and even though im not buying multiple bottles of it either, it is one of the best imperial stouts I have ever had.

Just please don't pour 4 Backwoods into a big mug and try and chug it....then pour it out after a few sips...

Even if you couldnt chug it (I could  ) why did you pour it out after a few sips? Thats alcohol abuse!!!

I had it, it just didnt seem to stand out to me. I mean maybe it just lacked the overall robust and balanced characteristics I want from a BA stout, but it just fit nicely right there at #5 or 6. I think its good as well, just not top in its class.

I prrsoanally perfer the reg version over cbh. Cbh is just wayyyyy to sweet with me. I thoroughly enjoy the nice heat on the fresh curmudgeon. Not saying i dont enjoy cbh (i have had on tap and many yimes in bottle). Though obviousky this is all preference, but thought id throw in my 2 cents

Well you guys have inspired me to head back to the store and pick up a couple of bottles today. I passed on it previously because I tried CBH on tap and thought the same as you, way too sweet/syrupy. I am glad I made it to that tap event because it prevented me from opening one of my bottles. I passed on the Curmudgeon because of the experience with CBH, but now I have new hope based on your description. Not to mention if I happen to like it, the beer is readily available.

I think that's more of a gross negligence violation than an abuse :stuck_out_tongue:

We did a side by side old ale and better half, it was sad for the old ale, once they both got to room temp old ale stood a chance, but before that not even a shot. After having old ale by itself another day, one of my favorite beers, just never try it next to better half lol
