I'm looking to grow what we call our "zombie box", basically cellar beers we're only breaking out when the zombie outbreak finally(eventually) happens. What are some good on the shelf beers that i can grab now and stash? My box currently consists of some BCBS and KBS, with a couple random BAs...
    any help is appreciated
    Cheers!

I'd go for anything with a strong malt backbone, or a sour/wild beer without fruit (unless you don't mind the fruit dropping off). I personally really enjoy barleywines, so I love seeing how those age. I'd be careful of falling into the cellaring pitfalls of aging things that aren't meant to be aged. Quite often people let beers age that really don't have the flavors and malt compounds that they need.

Bigfoot for sure, old stock, Mephistopheles and any avery brew with a sky high abv%, central waters barleywine and BA stout, rochefort 10, most big abv beers without adjunct flavorings in general.

It depends on when you're expecting the zombie outbreak to happen. Many of the beers mentioned shouldn't be aged more than a couple years if you want them to be as delicious as fresh (or more).

Can't believe you said Bell's 30th but not Expedition. Founders breakfast does not age well IMO.

Wouldn't age KBS, it faded even after a year. Coffee is all but gone

I'd also echo the Old Stock and you might want to add some barleywines, I think they improve a lot with some time.
