Me and my wife just moved and I'd like something a little more elegant and organized to store my bottles than cardboard boxes. My brother in law is a woodworker and agreed to build anything we need, and a custom beer cabinet came to mind.

If you had free reign, what would you like in a storage cabinet? I was thinking two or 3 rows on the bottle that slide out and allow bottles to be aged on an angle, and then maybe 3 or 4 rows of shelves to store bottles upright.

Just want to get some ideas before sketching something for him!

I'm in a similar situation. Have a friend that will pretty much build anything I want. We were thinking a six foot shelf (Maybe two) that displays the bottles at a slight 15 degree angle away from the viewer, so to speak. Slightly overlapping to save space.

I know upright is recommended but is there any reason that slight angle would be harmful? Anyone have thoughts?

I'd put an enclosed kegerator in the center of it, but that's just me. And to answer bloated nemesis, no, an angle shouldn't hurt.
