So i have a package coming from Belgium to the US and according to tracking # the last known activity says "handed over to customs" and nothing since last Thursday. Anyone know if the USPS ever bothers to update tracking info. or how long customs holds packages? I've had packages sent from overseas before but this is the first time it has been delayed. This is going to be the 3rd week since it was shipped. I'm sure the Holiday could have slowed it down by a day but just trying to get some ideas of what others have experienced.
I wouldn't worry yet. I had a similar situation. It was ePost i believe. The box arrived with no problems.
I find USPS to be very good at updating the tracking. For stuff i've sent into the US, customs usually holds onto things for a day or two. The longest i had was about 4-5 weeks, but the box made it through fine...i can only assume that this one sort of fell through the cracks in the system
Customs can take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months to clear depending on how backed up they are. It's been pretty smooth for a while though, so I wouldn't worry too much. I'd give it another full week before even thinking about it.
I've got the same thing going on too, hit customs thursday, hopefully your package is keeping mine company. They usually update, but have had it not update and show up. Once I even got a call that the package was being held at the post office and was not delivered, even though it had been. Little disappointed though as I've had packages arrive from Belgian in less then a week. This one I ordered on August 2nd, they didn't send until the 20th and now stuck in customs.
I have a package that has a status of acceptance. This was Tuesday around 2pm Eastern...Status remains the same and the package is listed as being at its original location. I will check again tomorrow, but I would have expected it to leave the building...
I'm curious if others in this thread have seen these boxes yet? I've had an order sitting at customs since 8/30, which is dramatically longer than any previous box I've gotten from Belgium.
I'm waiting on one from Bpost that went out on the 14th and hasn't updated since "Departure from office of exchange." Fairly concerned at this point.
