CW BB Stout in TC

Three of us did a blind tasting of barlywine the other day BA old Numbskull, Bourbon county and CW and CW was third by all three of us. Bourbon county 2 firsts and a second.

 

I will be buying a case of CW barlywine it is very good but there prices seems to be creeping up.

 

CW barleywine come out in February again? Or was it early March?

 

Yea, will pass this year at 15.99 a pop. Will pick up some barleywine though. That stuff's great. Just not as great at that price!

 

I believe the barleywine will be released at the CW 16 party right?

 

I buy more CW BBBW than any other beer ever, period, every year. And yes, it's always been available for me to be buy a couple cases of at the Anniversary Party, which is actually the reason I started going several years ago.

 

The BW is great and imo holds up better with age. Cracked open a uh 2011 CWBBBW the other day and it was drinking fantastic. Then opened also a 2011 CW BBS to be let down, although still really good just not as good as a year old or younger. So I totally won't get any of this year's if it's that pricepoint in WI I can't imagine what it'll be here in MN so maybe I'll get 1 bottle just for shiggles.

You should start seeing it in a few places in the Twin Cities starting Thursday. That's when we are getting ours at Vinifera, supposedly.

 

IIRC last year CW Barrel reserves were available in WI weeks b4 MN release and were $3-$4 more a 4-pak in WI

Eh, I don't know. The cheapest I could find the BA Scotch Ale was ~14-15 bucks a four pack. It sucks, but they make a good product and lots of people want it.

The price thing always gets me. People cannot wait to throw $16 at a 4 pack of Abrasive or $18 for an Abyss, but scoff at $15 for CWBB. This is a great series, especially to BW. That is about $3.75 a bottle

I will agree that the PM is a constant disappointment, but I will again roll the dice and grab a 4 pack and hope it is great. FWIW, I had some PW back in November and it was fantastic, you just never know what is good or bad with that one.

 

I've got some and I'm not disappointed. Great price for what it is.
