I've been trying to track this down and finally got one, and only one. Whats general opinion on this one? Drink fresh or age a year or two?

What year Black Gold did you obtain? 2013 is 12 oz. 2014 is 22oz (with date on the label) and 2015 is 22 oz undated. See this post for comparison of the latter two bottles.

I drank my Black Gold '15 about a month ago along side CW 18. That Black Gold was phenomenal. Certainly plenty of bourbon present, oaky, raisin and traditional 'dark' flavors. I loved it. Not sure how it will age but 'fresh' was very good. Just be ready for some of the bourbon to come at you.

I'll be ready. I was leaning towards drinking it sooner than later anyways.

Central Waters ages these beers for a long time. No need to wait. You won't be disappointed.

It sounds like you have never drank Black Gold before. So why not drink it as fresh as possible? Then you will know first hand if it will benefit from aging based on your personal beer palate.

Also a side note, every year of Black Gold is a little different. The only outlier vintage of Black Gold is batch 1 which is in the 12oz bottles. That batch is still boozey as hell. Every single Black Gold vintage from a bomber has been fantastic fresh, so fantastic that I have never been able to cellar a bottle for longer than 5 months because they just get drank. Yep, Black Gold is just that good. Enjoy your bottle of Black Gold! It will be a treat for sure!
