This years batch tastes off for me. Sour, sharp notes resonate after each drink. Perhaps I picked up a couple lackluster 4packs. What do y'all think?
I just finished one, and did not experience that at all. Just as velvety smooth as I remember, and a fantastic beer.
I've drank about 6 bottles so far. I've experienced 1 off bottle. Wasn't a drainpour, though it wasn't very good.
Its not an IDP (instantaneous drain pour) by any means. Just not comparable to previous years for me.
I, too have only had one but was impressed. Mouthfeel was my only complaint as it was too thin for my liking.
That's funny...now that you mention it, the one I had the other night tasted a bit "sour"...I just thought it might have been my tastebuds off from eating supper or something. That was the only one...the rest have been pretty good...
Had beers from two different 4 packs of Peruvian this year. I never had any problem with the taste at all. Good beer, however I too wish it had more body.
I agree with the OP that it tastes off. I didn't pick out sour notes, I just couldn't find the coffee anywhere. I have been drinking a fair share of the BBBW and the BBS, both of which are smooth and delicious. When I cracked my first PM, I was wondering what happened to all of the coffee... and the stout base for that matter. I thought it was up there with KBS the first time I had it 2 years back, but this years version is nowhere close.
ive had 5 and one was off, but the other 4 were fantastic. could have just been my taste buds that night too, i think i was eating something spicy
I did experience some sourness from last year's batch that I had a couple months ago, but the couple I have had this year have tasted great.
I have noticed some variation (i.e., sour, sharp notes) from bottle to bottle with both peruvian morning and bourbon barrel stout.... however, I figured it was my palate and not consistency. hmm...
I havent noticed any sour notes, but it is almost impossible for me to detect any coffee notes. If it didnt say it on the bottle, there is no way i would think its a coffee stout. Be nice if it had the coffee flavor of the regular Coffee Stout.
Just had 1 last night, didn't detect any sour notes, still have 3 leftover so we'll see what happens. Liked how the coffee kept the bourbon in check by not making it overwhelm the focal point in taste and smell.
Exactly. The few times I've had Peruvian Morning the thing I loved about it was the integration of the coffee and bourbon. The flavors are muted by each other with neither one dominating.
