Throwing the word "ale" in there was out of early paranoia. It originated as a barleywine style ale so as not to confuse consumers between beer and wine, and also avoid unnecessary regulation or taxation. Nowadays it's sometimes used out of nostalgia, but it's neither a different style nor a sub-style from barleywine.

None, its is just an over explanation of the what style beer it is.

    17D. English Barleywine
    Overall Impression

A showcase of malty richness and complex, intense flavors. Chewy and rich in body, with warming alcohol and a pleasant fruity or hoppy interest. When aged, it can take on port-like flavors. A wintertime sipper.

    22C. American Barleywine
    Overall Impression

A well-hopped American interpretation of the richest and strongest of the English ales. The hop character should be evident throughout, but does not have to be unbalanced. The alcohol strength and hop bitterness often combine to leave a very long finish.

They sure has hell are not selling at the brewery. Thats why.
If Cycle was at any fest in CA they can distro the state for a certain period of time.

Thats why during March you see beers from all over hit shelves or bars, they sing a 30 distro with a beer house and they can bring in what they want.

I picked up some bottles a few weeks back at Cycle. I was in there on a Thursday night around 7PM and there were only 3 people in there & 2 were bartenders

Right I get slow sales.... But distribution across the USA to Cali? Haha

Why not other areas in FL beyond St Pete and Tampa? Why not another East coast state?

So yeah I'd like to know why SD?

They’re at the Horus Hootenanny this weekend so that’s probably why SD

I've heard nothing as of yet. I believe the last 2 years they sold tickets on MLK day weekend. After last years debacle with infected bottles on TBBW, I would think cycle wants to pull out all the stops this year so couldn't imagine why they'd cancel.

I don't know.... But there could be the other side of it.... They don't want to deal with it?

That's true!! Their crew does always seem to have a good time during and after BA day, but Doug is Doug and might just say the hell with it. At least if they do weekday bottles, we don't have to line up early to get them any more.

Does their crew ever seem to have a good time? I get the exact opposite vibe from their employees every single time i'm there.

You might be right on the bartenders most of the time, but having been at cycle ba day 2 of the past 3 years and also hanging out at cycle after ba day each of the last three years, Doug and crew definitely were having a good time, albeit just a wee bit drunk, but a good time nonetheless!

Overheard someone ask this a few weekends ago. Bartender said something about having trouble finding a host? Not sure if issue with shuffle board club or some other host duty.

But could be a game of telephone here. If someone asks the bartender they may be able to give you the direct answer.
